Job description

Responsibilities

We are hiring a Sr. Technical Project Engineer. This person will be local to Huntsville, AL, with Army IAMD, MOSA, software modernization, systems engineering, and program execution experience and work onsite. This person would provide technical oversight, task tracking, engineering coordination, and execution support across modernization activities.

The role is intended for someone operating at a Senior Systems Engineering level, who is able to work directly with Government, prime contractor, subcontractor, engineering, and program leadership. 

What you'll do: 

The Sr. Technical Project Engineer will support task execution, technical coordination, and delivery oversight for modernization efforts in Huntsville. The role will help translate Government priorities into executable engineering tasks, track progress across teams, identify technical and programmatic risks, and support delivery alignment across MOSA, DevSecOps, CI/CD, virtual testbed, software integration, and fielding-related activities.

This person should be able to operate independently, engage senior stakeholders, understand complex technical baselines, and provide clear status, risks, recommendations, and action tracking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide senior-level technical oversight across modernization tasks, engineering activities, and delivery priorities.
  • Track task execution, action items, risks, blockers, dependencies, and technical decisions across teams.
  • Support coordination between Government, prime, subcontractor, and industry partners.
  • Help align software modernization, MOSA architecture, CI/CD, DevSecOps, and virtual testbed activities to program objectives.
  • Review technical plans, white papers, architectures, schedules, and engineering artifacts for quality, feasibility, and alignment.
  • Support technical baseline management, requirements traceability, integration planning, and verification planning.
  • Identify execution risks early and provide recommended mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare senior-level briefings, status updates, decision packages, and technical summaries.
  • Support industry engagement, technical interchange meetings, design reviews, and integration planning sessions.
  • Provide hands-on leadership to help move work from concept to executable tasking and measurable progress.
Qualifications

What you'll need: 

  • Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D. In lieu of degree, 16 years of applicable experience will be acceptable. 
  • Experience in systems engineering, software engineering, defense modernization, C5ISR, IAMD, missile defense, or complex DoD integration programs.
  • Prior senior technical leadership role such as Chief Engineer, Chief Architect, Engineering Manager, Technical Director, Lead Systems Engineer, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Army, Missile Defense Agency, PEO Missiles and Space, IFMC, IBCS, or related integrated air and missile defense programs.
  • Strong understanding of complex DoD software-intensive systems, technical baselines, integration environments, and system-of-systems engineering.
  • Experience working with Government customers, prime contractors, subcontractors, and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Ability to work locally in Huntsville, AL, with regular in-person engagement as required.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

Desired Qualifications

  • Direct IBCS, IFMC, Army IAMD, or C2/BMC2 experience.
  • Experience with MOSA, open architecture, modular software design, and hardware/software decoupling.
  • Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, containerized environments, GitLab, Kubernetes/OpenShift, automated test, and software factory concepts.
  • Familiarity with virtual testbeds, digital engineering, model-based systems engineering, simulation, and integration lab environments.
  • Experience with requirements management, interface control, verification planning, test readiness, and technical reviews
  • Experience supporting OTA, RFI/RFP, capture, proposal, or technical volume development.
  • Familiarity with Agile execution, Jira/ADO, backlog management, sprint planning, and engineering business rhythms.
  • Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks, AI-enabled program management tools, or AI/ML integration in DoD systems is a plus.
  • INCOSE, PMP, Agile, ITIL, cybersecurity, or cloud certifications are a plus.

Target Salary Range$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
