Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
In support of the Student Affairs Learning Outcomes, the Wellness and Recreation team manages multiple fitness and recreation facilities and coordinates a variety of on- and off-campus recreation and wellness education programming.  Along with professional staff and graduate assistants, the Lead Well-being Programming Assistant is responsible for supporting services, resources, and programs related to holistic well-being education for students with a focus on physical activity, stress management, nutrition, sleep, mindfulness, and overall well-being.  The Lead Well-being Programming Assistant strives to create welcoming experiences that contribute to the University by building community, increasing the students' pride in Chapman University, and improving students' healthy sense of self.  The Lead Well-being Programming Assistant is an employee in the Department of Student Engagement and the Division of Student Affairs
Responsibilities
  • Manage scheduling for all Well-being Programming Assistants through Humanity
  • Promotion of the CU Health and Wellness website through engaging content and programs
  • Assist with logistics of the Find Your Balance Well-being Retreat(s) in the Fall and Spring semesters
  • Provide excellent service to all participants of well-being programs. 
  • Provide accurate information regarding Chapman University and Wellness and Recreation. 
  • Present a positive image of Chapman University employees, specifically the Wellness and Recreation team. 
  • Present an image of an individual who understands themselves to be responsible for the facilitation of well-being programming and for cultivating a welcoming and engaging experience for all participants. 
  • Act as a role model and positive voice on campus in promoting greater health-conscious attitudes and challenging campus social norms where appropriate.  
  • Assist with the development and implementation of in-person outreach and educational events related to a variety of well-being topics, including but not limited to stress management, emotional intelligence, physical activity, nutrition, mindfulness, sleep, and growth mindset.  
  • Assist with the Help the Well-being Programming Assistant team research, planning, and implementation of campus-wide campaigns through using print, social media, and other means of communication.  
  • Staff tabling events throughout the year to promote awareness of healthy behaviors.  
  • Conduct outreach to all students to create opportunities for education and collaboration. 
 
  • Ensure collection and maintenance of accurate rosters and experience surveys for all programs. 
  • Assist with program assessment, including contributing to the development of an end-of-year report.  
  • Assist with administrative work, including data management, as needed.  
  • Other duties as assigned. 
 
Other Responsibilities 
  • Assist in other ways with all of the above as determined by supervisor. 
  • Promote well-being programming along with other Wellness and Recreation facilities, programs, and services. 
  • Promote the use of Wellness and Recreation virtual engagement platforms (e.g. RecPortal, CU Health and Wellness website, Panther Connect, Instagram, etc.)  
  • Attend all scheduled Wellness & Recreation staff meetings and training sessions. 
  • Serve as a representative for the Wellness and Recreation team at events as determined by supervisor. 
  • Participate in and contribute to Department of Student Engagement programs, services, experiences, and resources as determined by supervisor.

  • Because of the student-facing nature of this role, remote work is not permitted.  Student employees are encouraged to use sick pay when it is needed and available.

  • Knowledge of topics related to student transitions, belonging, and needs in higher education. 
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Humanity, and Fusion systems. 
  • Ability to lift objects of 30 lbs.
