Schenectady ARC has been providing services to developmentally disabled adults since 1952 and is committed to helping people within the Capital Region enjoy healthy, rewarding lives as members of their community. Schenectady ARC brings staff, families and community together to encourage dreams and respond to each person's life choices by offering high quality services, resources and supports.

Position:ย  Direct Support Professional (Residential/Home)

Compensation Range:ย  $17.00-18.39

Hours:ย  Full time, 40 hours/week, Evening Shift (2-10p/3p-11p) with 1 weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday) required

The Direct Support Professional will work in a residential setting assistingย individuals servedย in becoming self-sufficient, self-advocating, and self-actualized individuals. Daily responsibilities include: assistingย individuals to achieve and exceed their personal goals, provide structure and emotional support, assist in the facilitation of resolving behavioral issues, assist individuals with personal hygiene, manage and dispense medication, complete detailed, accurate documentation as assigned.ย  DSPโ€™s must communicate effectively withย individuals and their families.ย  Cooking and light housekeeping may also be required.

* Assist in all areas of daily living to facilitate social and interpersonal development, including meal prep, personal care and social development.

* Assist with the development and implementation of recreational and community activities

*Implement and comply with Individual Service Plans (ISP) and all plans of care

*Maintain clear and concise documentation of individualsโ€™ activities including, but not limited to, medical notes, medication administration logs, incident reports, daily notes, etc.

* Must acquire and maintain valid medication certification and adhere to policies and procedures relevant to medication administration

* Safely transport individuals to work, educational and medical appointments or extra-curricular activities as requiredย 

Minimum Qualifications:

*High school diploma or GED (in lieu of diploma/equivalent, a passing score as outlined on standardized tests may be accepted)

* Valid NYS driverโ€™s license which meets agency guidelines (when driving responsibilities are required)

* Experience in ID/DD field preferred

* Basic computer skills preferred

Our Differentials are:

* $6.00 Weekend (day and evening shifts))

* $7.50 Weekend Awake Overnight (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

* $1.50 Weekday Awake Overnight (Mon-Thurs)

* $0.50 Weekday Evening (Mon-Thurs)

* Location and/or Certification differentials may also be applicable
