Collectively, they provide technical guidance and perform planning, risk assessment, inspections and monitoring, training, and data management.

Job Summary:

The Craft-Based Leadership (CBL) Assistant supports the project’s behavior-based safety program by helping coordinate training, maintain accurate program records, enter and validate CBL data, and track actions through closure. The role provides practical administrative and field support to the CBL Coordinator, CBL observers, ESH team, and field leadership to help sustain timely observations, quality feedback, effective communication, and documented follow-up. This position reports to the CBL Coordinator, ESH Services Manager, or Project ESH Manager, as assigned.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Support implementation and daily administration of the CBL program in alignment with project requirements, CBL Coordinator direction, and field execution needs.
  • Assist with scheduling, preparing, and documenting CBL training sessions for observers, craft personnel, field supervision, and project support teams.
  • Prepare training materials, sign-in sheets, attendance records, observation checklists, meeting agendas, and other program support documents.
  • Enter CBL observation data, employee recommendations, meeting notes, action items, and closure status into approved project tracking systems.
  • Review submitted CBL checklists and data entries for completeness, legibility, required fields, and timely submission; elevate gaps or recurring issues to the CBL Coordinator.
  • Maintain CBL action trackers, recommendation matrices, attendance logs, observer rosters, training records, and supporting documentation in accordance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate weekly CBL team meetings, including room setup, agenda preparation, attendance capture, note taking, action assignment, and follow-up on open items.
  • Track actions generated from observations, employee recommendations, CBL meetings, ESH Committee discussions, and field leadership reviews through disposition and closure.
  • Support preparation of routine CBL reports, dashboards, metrics summaries, and communication materials for the CBL Coordinator, ESH leadership, and field supervision.
  • Assist with coordination among CBL observers, team captains, facilitators, subcontractor representatives, field supervision, and ESH personnel to support timely observations and effective follow-up.Help
  • maintain awareness materials, recognition records, postings, and communications that reinforce CBL participation, no-name/no-blame principles, and positive ESH engagement.
  • Provide field support, as needed, by helping observers understand documentation expectations and by communicating administrative issues to the CBL Coordinator.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of relevant administrative, construction, training, safety, or project support experience; or Associate’s degree (or equivalent) with 2+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree. 
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Experience supporting ESH, training, construction, labor relations, or field leadership programs on a construction project.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate trackers, close out action items, and produce clear status summaries for leadership review.
  • Familiarity with CBL, behavior-based safety, ESH observation programs, or corrective action tracking processes.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to manage meeting cadence, documentation deadlines, training support needs, and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ESH as a core personal value and willingness to support craft-owned engagement and continuous improvement.
