Job description

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

We are seeking an experienced Expeditionary Project Manager that will support U.S. Navy facilities and infrastructure projects based at the Government facilities onboard NSA Naples, Italy. You will manage projects throughout the planning, design, construction, and closeout phases, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, code-compliant projects on time and within budget.

This position is contingent upon contract award. If awarded, the contract will have a potential period of performance of up to five (5) years.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide professional architectural, engineering, and project management support for the planning, design, construction, repair, maintenance, demolition, space utilization, and facilities development of Navy and Supported Command projects.
  • Prepare and review engineering analyses, calculations, designs, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for in-house, design-bid-build, and design-build projects.
  • Review third-party designs and provide recommendations on programming, space planning, sustainable design, code compliance, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and project stakeholders to ensure coordinated, code-compliant project delivery and successful project execution.
  • Manage projects through all phases, including initiation, planning, design, construction, and closeout, with responsibilities for governance, quality assurance, scheduling, cost estimating, funds management, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Conduct construction site visits and inspections to monitor progress, quality, safety, and contractor compliance with contract requirements.
  • Manage submittals, draft Requests for Information (RFIs), review contractor schedules, analyze schedule impacts, and recommend corrective actions to support timely project completion.
  • Prepare and review cost estimates, value engineering analyses, contract modifications, and technical evaluations to support budgeting, negotiations, and project decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD, Department of the Navy (DON), NAVFAC, International Building Code (IBC), Life Safety Code, and other applicable regulations, standards, and safety requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations while supporting project planning, budgeting, team coordination, and stakeholder communication.

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • If an Architect: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from a NAAB-accredited program or NCARB-approved equivalent, with at least 5 years of architectural design experience, including new construction, renovation, and repair projects, and at least 1 year on Federal Agency facilities projects. Registered Architect (RA) licensure is desirable.
  • If an Engineer: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, with at least 5 years of engineering and facilities design experience for new construction, renovation, and repair projects, including at least 1 year on Federal Agency Capital Improvement projects. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is desirable.
  • Must have a valid US driver's license.
