We are seeking a Program Manager to work closely with our Assistant General Manager / Director of Fitness & Programming. This leader will oversee and grow several of HFAC’s member recreation programs, including Hawthorn Swim School and programs related to rock climbing, pickleball, basketball, squash, and more.

We are looking for a strong people, systems, and business manager who knows how to turn plans into consistent execution. You should be able to lead employees, manage inventory and safety records, implement and improve systems, communicate scheduling and performance expectations to employees, understand budgets and program performance, follow through on details, and deliver consistently excellent member experiences.

Compensation: $62,000 - $72,000 BOE + up to $6,000 in performance bonus

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise Aquatics, Rock Wall, Pickleball, and other assigned program employees in coordination with the AGM / Director of Fitness & Programming.

  • Execute approved department plans with discipline, including labor management, inventory control, safety documentation, scheduling, and operational follow-through.

  • Grow programs through strong execution, excellent member communication, community building, consistent service, and thoughtful program oversight.

  • Ensure applicable laws, regulations, safety requirements, employee certifications, company policies, and HFAC operating standards are consistently followed throughout assigned departments.

  • Support Fitness and Group Exercise operations and initiatives as assigned by the AGM.

  • Improve communication and accountability within assigned programs through regular staff meetings, written updates, reporting, clear expectations, and consistent follow-through.

  • Maintain accurate attendance records, employee schedules, certifications, safety records, department documentation, and member-facing program information.

  • Provide visible, hands-on leadership throughout the Club, including regular presence on the pool deck and in program areas to observe operations, coach employees, address member concerns, and reinforce standards in real time. This position includes evening and weekend work.

  • Under the direction of the AGM, ensure assigned programming areas are safe, clean, appropriately staffed, service-focused, and aligned with overall Club operations.

  • Serve as a member of HFAC’s Manager on Duty team, including opening and closing the facility, responding to incidents, supporting employees, resolving operational concerns, and consistently enforcing Club policies with members, guests, and employees.

  • Handle member and employee concerns calmly, professionally, and in accordance with HFAC policies, established authority, and chain of command.


Qualifications:
  • A proven record of success with at least 1 year of experience managing a team is required.

  • 2+ years of experience working in recreation, aquatics, fitness, youth programming, or a closely related industry.

  • Demonstrated customer service experience in a management role, with a strong member- and guest-focused mindset.

  • Strong written, verbal, and business communication skills.

  • Strong organizational, follow-through, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, make sound decisions, and maintain high standards in a fast-paced operating environment.

  • Availability Tuesday through Saturday, including 2-3 evenings until 9:30 pm.
