Prestamos CDFI is seeking a mission and results-driven Director for our Women's Business Center!
ABOUT
CPLC Prestamos is an award-winning Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and Community Development Entity that has provided small business loans and high-quality technical support services to business owners in underserved communities since 1980. CPLC Prestamos now offers loan products, business consulting services and investment opportunities in Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?
As the Director of the Women's Business Center (WBC) you will bring strategic, operational, and fiscal leadership. You will drive the overall performance, compliance, sustainability, and impact of the WBC, ensuring full alignment with SBA Cooperative Agreement requirements, program directives, and performance metrics.
You will lead the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of high-quality business advisement, training, and technical assistance services focused on women entrepreneurs. In addition to program leadership, you will play a critical role in securing and managing the required non-federal match for the WBC grant through fundraising, partnerships, earned revenue, and allowable in-kind support.
Using your ability to influence, motivate, engage, and connect, you will represent the WBC to funders, the U.S. Small Business Administration, community partners, and the public. Leading and directing the center staff, you will position the Women's Business Center as a regional leader in women's business development while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
- Program Leadership & Operations: Lead and manage all Women's Business Center operations, ensuring SBA compliance, program effectiveness, high-quality service delivery, and alignment with organizational goals. Oversee the Center's overall performance, compliance, sustainability, and impact.
- Grant Management, Compliance & Reporting: Administer the SBA Cooperative Agreement, overseeing compliance, budgeting, financial tracking, and timely reporting meeting all federal requirements.
- Match Funding Development & Sustainability: Drive fundraising and partnership efforts to secure required non-federal matching funds and ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the Women's Business Center.
- Staff Leadership & Team Development: Supervise and develop staff, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment that reflects CPLC's values of Community, Ownership, Respect, Empowerment, Integrity and Quality.
- Outreach, Advisory Board & Representation: Lead community outreach, manage stakeholder and Advisory Board engagement, and serve as the public representative and advocate for the Women's Business Center.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Education /Background:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required and Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in small business development, economic development, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of progressive leadership experience in small business development, economic development, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Preferred certification in Business Administration, Management, or related field, complemented by continuous professional development in current business practices.
- Demonstrated experience managing federal or state-funded grants, including compliance, reporting, budgets, and audits; direct experience with SBA programs or Cooperative Agreements strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with an SBA Women's Business Center or other SBA-funded resource partner program (SBDC, SCORE, VBOC).
- Direct experience meeting or exceeding SBA WBC match requirements through diversified funding strategies.
- Experience working with women-owned businesses, entrepreneurs of color, rural entrepreneurs, or other underserved populations.
- Familiarity with SBA reporting systems, performance metrics, and program monitoring processes.
- Experience serving as a liaison to advisory boards, funders, or government partners.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities relevant to the communities served.
- Experience working within a CDFI, nonprofit lending organization, or community development organization.
Additional Requirements:
- Proven track record of securing and managing non-federal match funding for grants, including cash and allowable in-kind contributions.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute fundraising, sponsorship, partnership, or earned-revenue strategies to meet required match obligations.
- Experience supervising and leading multidisciplinary teams, including hiring, performance management, and professional development.
- Strong financial acumen, including experience working with program budgets, allowable costs, and grant-funded expenditures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing grant reports, funder communications, and public presentations.
- Ability to represent the organization professionally with funders, government agencies, community partners, and the media.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and compliance requirements simultaneously.
- Proficiency with data tracking systems, client management databases, and Microsoft Office or equivalent platforms.
