Job Title: Girls Basketball Program Director

Appointed by: The Athletic Director of Savannah Christian Preparatory School.

Responsible to: The Athletic Director of Savannah Christian Preparatory School.

Supervises: The entire basketball program for girls in grades 5th-12th.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the SCPS Staff Handbook.

Goal: The SCPS Head of Girls Basketball shall provide Christ-centered leadership in regards to student involvement and development.

Teaching Positions Available: All teaching positions will be considered. Head Strength & Conditioning, MS STEM, Physical Education/Health candidates will be given priority.


Responsibilities:

-Responsible for the comprehensive oversight of the SCPS basketball program, student athlete, academic progress, and related functions.
-Monitors the academic progress of student athletes and ensures their playing eligibility; addresses issues or concerns with student athletes.
-Coordinate schedules for practices, games, and tournaments.
-Keeps the athletic department abreast of new regulations and relates or translates information as it affects basketball operations.
-Serve as a positive role model and mentor for student-athletes by promoting character development, leadership, accountability, and teamwork
-Coordinates all aspects of team travel to include meals, buses, etc.
-Submits and monitors basketball budget.
-Establish program philosophy, goals, and standards of conduct.
-Coordinates Summer basketball camps.
-Assist with tryouts, team selection, and player evaluations at MS and HS levels.
-Performs head coaching duties during practice sessions or games; plan and conduct effective practices focused on skill development, teamwork, and strategy
-Complies with all Georgia High School Association and Savannah Christian policies.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or Head of School.
-Communicates effectively with the athletic director, staff, athletes, and parents.
-Coordinate all parent volunteer personnel.
-Responsible for Maxpreps and maintaining rosters, schedules & scores.
-Recruit and retain coaches that are mission appropriate & approved by the AD. Supervise, evaluate, and collaborate with assistant coaches.
-Represent Jesus Christ in your daily walk through speech, actions & attitude.

Requirements:

Qualifications: Master’s degree preferred; previous basketball coaching experience; excellent communication skills; demonstrated leadership and organizational skills; ability to work positively with students, parents, and staff.

-Possessing the ability to create, direct, and maintain a total program that provides continuity and training that prepares students for performances, competitions, etc.
