The MLS Program Director is responsible for overseeing the organization, administration, instruction, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement of the MLS Education program. This role involves curriculum planning and development, directing program faculty and staff, and ensuring the overall effectiveness of the program.

Key responsibilities include participating in budget preparation, maintaining NAACLS accreditation, and coordinating student learning activities such as lectures, tests, and grades. The Program Director also upholds hospital and laboratory department policies and procedures, provides training to employees and students, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, exercise good judgment in challenging situations, and hold a faculty or clinical appointment at the sponsoring institution.

Qualifications
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in a relevant field.
  • Bachelor's degree from a U.S. accredited college or university in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related science discipline.
  • ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, or equivalent national certification/licensure for international applicants.
  • Current Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners Clinical Laboratory Scientist License.
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of education methods, administration, NAACLS accreditation procedures, and certification processes.
  • BLS certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Completion of a NAACLS approved school of Medical Technology preferred.
