Substance Abuse Counselor / SA - MH Counselor
Location: Barnesville, GA
Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay Rate: $21.53/hr
Payment Method: Direct Deposit Weekly

Job Description:
  • Assess the need for and provides substance abuse treatment and supports for team consumers
  • Provides individualized substance abuse/addictive disease treatment to an average of at least 3 individuals daily, documented with progress notes that reflect use of EBP
  • Conducts weekly substance abuse groups with individuals who are dually diagnosed
  • Maintains a caseload of 10-12 consumers, ensures scheduled MD appointments, and assists with transportation planning
  • Follows up on missed MD appointments, with at least 80% of services delivered in the community
  • Attends an average of 4 weekly treatment team meetings, participates in treatment planning
  • Available for after-hours (crisis phone) coverage as assigned
  • Performs related duties as assigned by the supervisor
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures

Position Requirements:
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Experience working with individuals with Substance Abuse and/or Mental Health Diagnoses (Preferred)
  • Fingerprint-Based Background Check of the Georgia and Federal Criminal History Record
  • Drug Screen
  • Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for seven years
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university or certification as an addiction counselor from the Georgia Addiction Counselors Association (GACA) or equivalent
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices for dually diagnosed population
  • Proficiency in Motivational Interviewing
  • Ability to provide integrated treatment for mental health and substance abuse
