ABOUT THE POSITION (Onsite)

Visante is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Pharmacy to lead Specialty Pharmacy services onsite with one of Visante’s health system partners. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for ambulatory specialty pharmacy services and is responsible for ensuring strong clinical outcomes, exceptional patient experience, and sustainable program growth. The Director oversees specialty pharmacy operations, including clinical services, financial performance, program development, regulatory compliance, and team leadership. This role ensures the pharmacy team delivers high-quality patient care while meeting operational and business goals. The Director will monitor performance, manage resources, and adjust operational priorities as needed to address challenges and support continued program growth.

This leader will work closely with Visante teams including Infusion Strategy, IT, Revenue Cycle, Medication Access, and 340B, as well as partner health system leadership and clinical teams, to strengthen service delivery and operational performance. Key responsibilities include implementing quality and performance improvement programs, managing staff and human resources, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, evaluating operating and capital needs, and managing budgets to support financial performance.

The Director will also serve as an operational advisor in strategic discussions related to specialty pharmacy expansion, payer network participation, limited distribution drug access, and contracting strategies. This position is accountable for specialty pharmacy program operations across multiple locations, ensuring efficient operations and high-quality patient care.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage projects under the guidance of Visante Leadership, including the development, implementation, and execution of strategies for Specialty service.
  • Scope, plan, and oversee client engagements, ensuring that quality, cost, and delivery requirements are met while collaborating with Visante teams and partners to meet engagement deliverables and execute client strategies.
  • Manage and oversee specialty pharmacy program, including education, training, policy and procedure development, strategic planning, business growth, compliance, and accreditation standards.
  • Establish and maintain effective operations at all client locations, focusing on improving efficiency, quality, and service
  • Oversee operations, including P&L budget, regulatory compliance, marketing initiatives, third-party partnerships, and other service-related activities.
  • Analyze operational performance, recommend, and implement changes to enhance effectiveness while ensuring compliance with State Board of Pharmacy, FDA, and accreditation regulations.
  • Interface with healthcare professionals, hospital staff, and hospital leadership to strengthen partnerships and drive business growth through.
  • Ensure the pharmacy has an appropriately trained workforce to operate efficiently and safely, providing supervision and support for the professional development of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Medication Access Technicians, and support staff.
  • Demonstrate expertise in pharmacy practice and the organization's mission, including awareness of innovations in technology and practice within the profession.
  • Analyze operational performance, recommend, and implement changes that improve effectiveness.
  • Stay informed of operational and regulatory changes affecting specialty pharmacy services.
  • Lead operational activities across the specialty pharmacy programs, including: Marketing initiatives, Prescription capture, Contract pharmacy agreements, Policy creation and implementation, Accreditation processes, Clinical services, Medication access services, Call center services, Dispensing procedures, Licensing and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of prescription billing and reimbursement, serving as a resource regarding billing inquiries and issues.
  • Oversees the purchase of drugs and supplies and ensures appropriate records and documentation are maintained according to established standards/procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with the State Board of Pharmacy, CMS, and FDA regulations regarding the medication process (verification, compounding, packaging, labeling, and dispensing).
  • Understand all specialty pharmacy accreditation standards, be accountable for achieving and maintaining necessary accreditation(s), and maintain organized and up-to-date documentation as required by accreditation bodies.
  • Achieves and maintains specialty pharmacy accreditation (e.g., URAC, ACHC, etc.)
  • Lead Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to established standards, client and Visante policies and procedures.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Visante Leadership team, or designated supervisor.
Requirements:

Education

Required: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or B.S. Pharmacy (Required) from an accredited college or university

Preferred: Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field

Experience

Required: Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience. Proven ability to diagnose, isolate, and resolve complex issues and implement strategies to resolve problems. Demonstrated experience providing high-quality customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting service quality standards and evaluating customer satisfaction. Proficiency in Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred: Minimum of 3 years of experience leading sales and/or operations in Specialty Pharmacy. Minimum of 3 years of experience managing a Profit and Loss (P&L) budget, including budget development.

Licensure

Required: Hold a current and active pharmacist license issued by the state in which they are employed
