Job description

Environmental Health and Safety Manager

Location: Oakdale, CA Job Type: Direct Hire | Full Time Salary: $140,000 to $160,000


About the Role

We are hiring an Environmental Health and Safety Manager for a full ownership seat at a large scale food manufacturing facility in Oakdale, CA. This role reports directly to the Plant Manager and carries full accountability for the site's EHS and sustainability programs. You will not be stepping into a support role. You will be setting the tone for safety culture, managing regulatory compliance across air, wastewater, waste, and permitting, and developing and delivering training for managers and frontline employees.


What You Will Do

  • Own all site environmental systems including air emissions, wastewater, waste management, permitting, and regulatory agency relationships
  • Lead all EHS and sustainability program development and implementation
  • Promote an accident free workplace through training, monitoring, and proactive hazard identification
  • Facilitate the Central Safety Committee and support subcommittees
  • Design and deliver compliance training to meet OSHA, Cal OSHA, EPA, and company requirements
  • Support incident investigations and prepare required regulatory reports
  • Conduct plant wide inspections and audits, identify hazards, and drive corrective and preventive actions
  • Analyze incident data to identify trends and preventable risk areas
  • Administer initial Workers Compensation processes
  • Ensure all environmental reports are completed and submitted on time


What We Are Looking For

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, Environmental Health, EHS, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial safety experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, Cal OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations
  • Experience managing environmental compliance programs including air emissions, wastewater, waste management, and permitting
  • Ability to write regulatory reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, inspections, and audits
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Preferred:

  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification
  • Experience with Workers Compensation administration
  • Background facilitating safety committees at the plant level
  • Familiarity with California regulatory environment including Cal OSHA and state environmental agencies
