Job description

The Staff Pad has partnered with a well-known hospital in Helena, MT and we are looking to hire a Behavioral Health Nurse Manager to oversee the operations and clinical leadership of an inpatient behavioral health program.

What You’ll Do

Under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer and in coordination with the hospital, the Behavioral Health Unit Manager:

  • Shares responsibility for overall unit operations, patient flow coordination, and delivery of Behavioral Health services
  • Serves as an administrative leader collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to advance the organization’s mission, vision, values, and goals
  • Oversees staff and departmental operations while fostering a professional, supportive, and effective practice environment
  • Promotes patient safety, advocacy, teamwork, respect, and operational efficiency
  • Builds and maintains a cohesive, collaborative, and engaged team culture
  • Delivers innovative, progressive mental health services across inpatient and community-based settings
  • Optimizes operational performance, quality outcomes, and fiscal accountability while enhancing patient, guest, and community experience
  • Supports the organization’s strategic plan through business planning, resource management, program development, budgeting, performance management, quality improvement, staff development, and regulatory compliance
  • Defines the treatment program’s philosophy, goals, and objectives in collaboration with the Medical Director
  • Directly supervises clinical and administrative staff and provides advisory support to Behavioral Health Unit personnel
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and accrediting body standards and regulations

Knowledge & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive management or leadership experience in a Behavioral Health setting required

  • Experience with EPIC preferred

Education

  • BSN required
  • Postgraduate degree preferred

Licensures & Certifications

  • Current RN license in the State of Montana required
  • BLS certification required
  • SECURE certification (or equivalent) required
  • Mental Health First Aid certification required
