About JW House
JW House keeps families together during medical crises by offering support and overnight accommodations steps away from their loved one’s hospital bed. We serve families from across the Bay Area and beyond—because when your child or loved one is in the hospital, being nearby matters. Our home-away-from-home model is made possible through the generosity of donors, corporate partners, and community volunteers.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, this role drives our individual giving, events, corporate partnerships, and foundation support. The ideal candidate is both a planner and a doer—able to shape strategy and implement it directly, working closely with a small but committed team to build financial support for our mission.
This position collaborates across departments, supervises our Communications Specialist, and plays a central role in the overall sustainability and visibility of JW House. We’re looking for someone who brings both big-picture thinking and day-to-day execution to the table.

Core Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Relations
  • Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan in collaboration with the Executive Director and Communications Specialist, aligned with organizational goals and budget needs
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of donors across giving levels; oversee stewardship, communication, and donor recognition
  • Ensure consistent tracking of donor activity, revenue, and goals within Bloomerang (CRM)
Grants & Foundation Support
  • Identify and pursue new grant opportunities; write and submit compelling proposals and reports
  • Maintain a grants calendar and ensure timely submission and compliance with requirements
  • Track outcomes and program data in coordination with other staff to support accurate grant reporting
Corporate Partnerships
  • Develop and implement strategies to deepen corporate engagement and grow workplace giving and sponsorships
  • Collaborate with the House Operations Manager to align corporate volunteer visits with donor stewardship goals
Communications & Events
  • Staff leader to the Communications Specialist providing guidance and oversight on messaging, branding, and outreach
  • Support the development of fundraising collateral, digital campaigns, and community-facing materials
  • Lead fundraising and donor stewardship events, from planning through execution
  • Represent JW House at community events, cultivating visibility and connections
Administration & Reporting
  • Attend and contribute to staff and committee meetings
  • Prepare development reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors
  • Stay current on fundraising trends and tools, especially within the nonprofit and healthcare hospitality space
Qualifications
  • 3-6 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, ideally in a small to mid-sized organization
  • Demonstrated success in donor cultivation, grant writing, and meeting revenue goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines
  • Experience with CRM platforms (Bloomerang preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work occasional evenings/weekends
  • Supervisory experience is a plus
