Job description

Life Enrichment Assistant
Location: By the Lake (Elk River, MN)
Salary Range: $18.20 - $20.54 / Hour (Based on Experience)

Position Summary:
Responsible for planning, implementation and coordinating a life enrichment program that encourages all residents to function at their highest possible level of independence. Coordinates and schedules a Life Enrichment program to meet the needs and interests of the residents that are in compliance with existing rules and regulations. Maintains resident personal dignity, self-respect and safety at all times. Responsible for work supplies and tools to ensure that resources are used wisely. Supports and implements all safety practices. Services are provided in accordance with the mission of Guardian Angels.

Schedule:
  • 12:30pm - 7pm
  • Part time, working 40 hours per pay period (2 Weeks).
  • Must be available to work every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday) and rotating holidays.
Responsibilities:
  1. Assists in organizing a volunteer program to provide a broad scope of group activities and one-on-one services based on the individual needs for the residents.
  2. Communicate with the Life Enrichment Coordinator to determine:
    • Need for volunteers in specific areas.
    • Need for training volunteers regarding job specifics and provide assistance with on-going volunteer training.
    • Participates in staff meetings to discuss ideas and volunteer programming. Contributes to program development and activity ideas.
  3. Assists with directing volunteers during activities and assuring the appropriate resources are available.
  4. Sets up room and prepares for activity events. Notifies residents when events are to start and encourages their participation and attendance.
  5. Assists with special events i.e. parties, outings, dances, entertainment, garage sale etc.
  6. Assists with calendar preparation and posting.
  7. To assist in providing a dignified, respectful, resident-centered environment for residents.
  8. Follows universal precautions, facility infection control guidelines, sanitation and safety standards of practice in all work and activities.
  9. All duties will be performed in accordance with current standards, guidelines, state and federal regulations.
  10. Uphold confidential information as required by Guardian Angels policy and procedure and as related to HIPAA.
  11. Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Guardian Angels.
  12. Performs all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
  • Prior experience in life enrichment is preferred.
  • Ability to give instructions/direct various volunteers in a diversity of activities and settings.
  • Excellent verbal and written (read, write) communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, ability to prioritize.
  • Maintains good attendance and punctuality.
