Job description
The ADRC Program Coordinator I designs, plans, and coordinates the day-to-day clinical, administrative, and operational activities of the Dementia Caregiver Clinic. This position serves as the principal liaison between the ADRC, University faculty, and external community partners throughout Northern Utah. The Coordinator provides clinical leadership by conducting intakes, developing resource plans for caregivers, and overseeing the research registry to ensure compliance with Institutional Review Board (IRB) ethics requirements.
Responsibilities
- Designs, coordinates, and implements all operational aspects of the Dementia Caregiver Clinic, including workflow development and service delivery strategies.
- Conducts and oversees clinic consultations and intakes, providing specialized education and supportive resources to caregivers and families.
- Serves as the primary point of contact and liaison between students, faculty, staff, and external community resource groups across Utah.
- Writes, edits, and coordinates the development of educational materials, training manuals, and promotional content for the clinic and research registry.
- Monitors and administers program expenditures; coordinates the purchasing of clinic supplies and maintains program-specific financial records.
- Collects and analyzes program data to prepare comprehensive reports on clinic consultations and research registry activity.
- Trains, directs, and mentors student interns and volunteers engaged in clinic operations and research recruitment.
- Facilitates and leads the dementia caregiver support group, including the development of session curricula.
- Designs and delivers professional presentations to community partners and service agencies to build strategic relationships and recruit for active studies.
- Ensures all program activities, including the research registry database, remain in strict compliance with university and IRB regulations.
- Plans and manages program-specific activities, including webinars, conferences, and community outreach events.
- Identifies and implements methods to improve the efficiency of services and streamlines clinic procedures.
- Provides support in program compliance activities.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Four years of experience; or an associate degree/technical training plus two years of experience; or a bachelor’s degree is required.
- At least two years of experience in providing care consultations to families caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease, related dementias, and the progressive stages of cognitive decline.
- Skilled in clinical intake processes, care consultation techniques, and identifying the psychosocial needs of family caregivers.
- Advanced knowledge of Utah-specific aging services, long-term care systems, and dementia-related community resources.
- Ability to lead and facilitate therapeutic or educational support groups for older adults and their families with empathy and professional boundaries.
- Knowledge of research and information gathering methods, including strict adherence to IRB protocols and research ethics.
- Ability to make independent administrative/procedural decisions and judgments regarding program operations.
- Knowledge of grant development, implementation, budgeting, and fiscal control.
- Ability to coordinate and organize complex meetings, webinars, and large-scale community events.
- Ability to lead, train, and mentor student interns, volunteers, and staff in a clinical or research setting.
- Skilled in the use of personal computers, research databases, and related software applications.
- Skilled in organizing clinical resources and establishing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of communication principles and marketing techniques to effectively reach older adult populations.
- Ability to gather and analyze statistical data to generate comprehensive program reports.
- Ability to exercise a high level of creativity, decision-making, and discretion, as work is varied and often undefined.
