Job description

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Shift Supervisor - Off Shift Director
Department: Long Term Care
Location: DeMay Living Center - 100 Sunset Drive, Newark, NY 14513
Hours Per Week: 40
Schedule:Evenings/Night 12 hour shifts, 2p-10 and/or 10p-6a, Weekend requirement every other weekend 7pm-7am

SUMMARY

The Off Shift Director of Nursing is a Nursing Leader who serves as a resource for problem solving, provides clinical expertise, facilitates staff mentoring and coaching, facilitates patient flow during the off shifts (typically, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees & assures short & long term Nursing Dept. staff schedules per established guidelines.

  • Facilitates units in emergency medical assessment & care of residents including interventions, transportation & other resources needed.

  • Serves as a clinical resource person to staff in problem solving, assessments, special procedures & clinical skill enhancements.

  • Coordinates with the Nursing Staff resident units & admissions dept. the rapid admission of residents including obtaining evaluations as indicated.

  • Serves as adjunct to staff development coordinator in promoting planned in-services to nursing staff as per master schedule/plan.

  • Provides continuity of resident status with hospital supervisory staff, and Nursing Administration.

  • Supervises the M.D.R. directing, interacting with residents, families and staff in providing safe, pleasant mealtime and assuring appropriate completion of required records.

  • Serves as major facilitator in QA program for Nursing Dept. including completion of assessments of designated audits & resultant actions required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current New York State Registered Nurse License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Minimum of two to three years of RN experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Combination of equivalent education and experience will be considered
  • Leadership experience
