APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE*** Job Summary Education Programs Directors, Supervisors, and Professionals assist and foster the growth of early childhood, pre-K, K-12, postsecondary, adult, and related education programs throughout Nevada by providing technical assistance, training, and oversight. This position is located within the Accountability Unit of the Office of Assessment, Data and Accountability Management (OADAM) and supports the legislative intent of ensuring transparency, accountability of public schools and school districts, and accessibility of information related to student educational achievement.
The role is responsible for strengthening public reporting, supporting evidence-based decision-making, and advancing equity and continuous improvement across Nevada's education system. Under the supervision of the Accountability Supervisor, the incumbent designs, develops, and maintains education data dashboards, visualizations, and data storytelling products that translate complex accountability and education data into clear, accessible, and meaningful information for internal leadership, Local Education Agencies (LEAs), policymakers, and the public. The position provides technical assistance and training on statewide accountability systems including NSPF, Nevada Report Card, Growth Model, NDPF, APF, EDFacts, and Acing Accountability, ensuring consistent interpretation and use of data across stakeholders.
The incumbent ensures that accountability data is used to promote transparency, equity, and measurable improvement in student achievement, and supports the monitoring and oversight of school district and charter school performance, including the use of data to inform resource allocation and improve student outcomes. This role also supports the development and maintenance of public reporting mechanisms that communicate district and charter sponsor performance and progress toward achievement targets, and contributes to the evaluation of performance against statewide accountability goals. In addition, the position supports implementation of new reporting requirements under SB 460 (2025), leads efforts to establish consistent data visualization and storytelling standards, provides technical guidance to colleagues, contractors, and LEA partners on best practices and accessibility, and serves as a subject matter expert in data visualization and education data storytelling.
The incumbent operates with professional judgment and independence in carrying out assigned duties while maintaining alignment with supervisory direction, established priorities, and required review processes, and performs other duties as assigned. Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, psychology, science, sociology, or related field and one year of related experience applicable to the current vacancy. Job Duties Assist and foster continuous improvement of educator preparation, recruitment, development, recognition, and retention programs.
Assist and foster the improvement and growth of assigned education programs; develop tools and resources used by local agencies to accomplish required or desired objectives. Provide technical assistance to statewide councils, commissions, boards, and task forces by preparing agendas, meeting materials, and researching and presenting information. Provide training, technical assistance, and outreach regarding education program legal requirements and best practices individually or in group sessions.
Collect, analyze, and report education program-related data; assist schools in meeting accountability and reporting requirements. Coordinate the development of education standards for various roles, responsibilities, and/or subject areas; develop assessments and security/administration protocol to measure the performance of students, schools, and school districts regarding federal and State standards and indicators. Oversee school compliance with federal and State requirements by monitoring and reviewing program documentation and conducting interviews.
Review federal and State education program-related statutes and regulations; draft language for proposed State regulations; coordinate adoption of proposed regulations; provide input on statutory language. Review education program sub-grant or claims requests and recommend approval or denial; monitor and provide assistance regarding funds usage; manage sub-grant applications. Collaborate with external partners including universities, research organizations, governmental agencies, and other entities to drive school improvement efforts statewide.
Create and facilitate internal and external stakeholder groups to provide high quality, research-based recommendations to the Department regarding educational matters. Perform related duties as assigned. Under limited supervision, incumbents perform duties described in the series concept and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate technical and administrative support staff.
This is the journey level in the series. DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC: Knowledge & Technical Skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint at a minimum intermediate level, with advanced Excel skills preferred. Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau (preferred) or similar platforms for developing dashboards and interactive reports.
Knowledge of ADA accessibility requirements for documents, presentations, dashboards, and other public-facing materials. Familiarity with meeting coordination tools such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, including documentation and workflow tracking processes. Understanding of data visualization principles and ability to translate complex education data into clear, accessible visual formats and narratives.
Familiarity with education data systems and statewide accountability reporting. Ability to work with large, complex datasets while ensuring data accuracy, validation, and consistency across reporting cycles. Knowledge of data governance principles, including data quality, privacy, and secure handling of student and aggregate data.
Familiarity with statewide and federal accountability frameworks and reporting requirements. Experience supporting or developing data-driven storytelling products for public-facing and executive-level audiences. Understanding of reporting timelines, data submission cycles, and multi-agency coordination processes.
Ability to support cross-functional collaboration between program offices, technical teams, and external partners or vendors.
