JOB SUMMARY

The Community Programs Coordinator is a forward-facing, community-embedded role responsible for managing all aspects of Meals on Wheels Central Texas (MOWCTX) programming within a defined geographical territory. This role integrates multiple functional responsibilities – volunteer coordination, program delivery, outreach, and site support – into a unified position that ensures high-quality service delivery and volunteer engagement. The Community Program Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for volunteers and community partners in their area, fostering relationships, recruiting and retaining volunteers, and ensuring operational excellence through community-based program management.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 1+ years’ experience in volunteer coordination, community outreach, or program management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to engage diverse stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database systems; Salesforce experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Meals on Wheels Central Texas
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
  • Valid Texas driver’s license, valid auto insurance, and reliable transportation required to completed essential duties of position
  • Position requires regular travel to multiple service locations throughout the Greater Austin Area
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the lead operational contact for all program activities within assigned geographical area
  • Coordinate daily meal delivery operations, including route planning, volunteer assignments and issue resolution
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain volunteers through targeted outreach and relationship building
  • Maintain and update volunteer and client databases, and ensure accurate documentation of service delivery
  • Conduct regular site visits to engage volunteers, monitor service quality, and support community partners
  • Facilitate volunteer recognition efforts, including milestone celebrations, thank-you communications, and engagement events
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure seamless integration of services and support
  • Represent MOWCTX at community events, volunteer fairs, and outreach activities
  • Monitor and report on program metrics, volunteer participation, and community engagement outcomes
  • Support substitute delivery and operational coverage as needed
  • Contribute to organizational goals by completing required meal shift delivery, program management, or office support

WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • This role may work in an office, field, or service setting
  • Requires regular use of computers and standard equipment, and communication via phone, email, and in-person is essential
  • Physical demands include prolonged periods of sitting or standing, moving within the workspace, and occasional lifting or transporting of items up to 35–50 pounds
