Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Coordinates the youth sports program and instructs classes.ย  Develops the staff schedule and provides training and direction to staff.

ย 

GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE:

Evenings and weekends, 15 โ€“ 20 hours per week.ย 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:ย 

  1. Coordinates the youth sports program and implements activities according to the plan and schedule. Ensures YMCA program standards are met. Serves as the lead instructor for all youth sports classes.
  2. Develops and publishes the staff schedule and fills in for absences. Provides supervision and training to staff. Ensures that all risk management policies are followed.
  3. Responsible for the setup and breakdown of program areas and for the maintenance and control of supplies and equipment.
  4. Ensures effective and positive communication with participants, staff, and parents.
  5. Monitors program effectiveness and responds to customer feedback.
  6. Attends staff meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
  7. Follows and enforces department protocol to clean and disinfect commonly used surfaces. Maintains the cleanliness and organization of program/work areas. Enforces the use of PPE.
  8. Maintains the work rules and regulations as stated by YMCA Buffalo Niagara, and the NYS Health Department.
  9. Implements ongoing safety checks to assure a healthy and safe program environment. Implements emergency procedures when necessary.
  10. Completes additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Knowledge and experience coaching youth sports activities.
  2. Must be at least 18 years of age or a high school graduate.
  3. Experience training and supervising a staff team.
  4. Strong customer service skills.
