Position Summary
The Program Coordinator supports the mission of the Multicultural Life and Diversity Office (MLDO) by developing, coordinating and facilitating educational programs, training initiatives, and dialogue opportunities that promote inclusive excellence, intercultural learning, belonging, and student success. The Program Coordinator collaborates with students, faculty, staff, residence life and housing, and campus partners to support engagement opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds and coordinates the Annual Student Conference on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) and Social Justice. This position requires evening and weekend availability to support programs and events, as needed.

Major Responsibilities
Annual Student Conference on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice
  • Co-chair the planning committee for the Annual Student Conference on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice with student co-chair, including administration of the conference.
  • Supervise student intern serving as the co-chair for the conference committee by meeting regularly with intern to support and follow up on their tasks, complete internship paperwork, and evaluate intern performance and contribution.
  • Coordinate conference logistics, including scheduling, registration, communications, vendor relationships, budget tracking, and event assessment.
  • Recruit, train, and support student volunteers participating in conference planning and implementation.
  • Evaluate conference outcomes and provide recommendations for future programming improvements.

Residence Life and Housing DEI Programming and Training
  • Partner with Residence Life and Housing professional and student staff to address emerging student concerns and foster inclusive residential environments.
  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate educational programs that promote intercultural understanding, inclusive communities, and student engagement within the residential experience.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the training provided by the MLDO for Resident Assistants and Residence Life and Housing staff.
  • Advise Residence Life and Housing staff on diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice related matters in the residence hall.

Campus Education, Engagement, Outreach, and Representation
  • Assist with facilitating programs and workshops for students, faculty and staff working collaboratively in support of the MLDO mission.
  • Assist Assistant Director in coordinating social media initiatives and other communication efforts that promote MLDO programs, services, and events.
  • Assist with development and dissemination of marketing and communication materials, including social media, website content, newsletters, and promotional campaigns.
  • Attend and support student programming, including evening and weekend programs such as the Voice Office events, late night events, trips, meetings and events hosted by student organizations.
  • Serve on committees, councils or working groups that request MLDO representation to support initiatives and advocate for the needs of diverse student populations.

Professional Development and Collaboration
  • Stay informed about trends, best practices, and emerging issues in student affairs, higher education, and inclusive student engagement.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities as resources allow
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with on-campus and off-campus partners to support student success and advance the mission of the MLDO.

Functional and Supervisory Relationships
  • Reports to the Assistant Director of Multicultural Life and Diversity Office (MLDO)
  • Collaborates across the university with other offices, departments, and student groups.
  • Collaborates with Residence Life and Housing staff.
  • Supervises a student employee/intern.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience planning programs, providing student support services, facilitating training, or working with diverse populations

Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, social work, education or related field
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience planning large-scale events, conferences, or leadership programs
  • Conversational or professional proficiency in a language other than English

  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
