Shift: Shift 3

Shift Details: Night shift Holidays: Rotating holidays Weekends: Every 4th weekend on call

Job Summary:

Under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse, the OB Technician performs a variety of routine duties within the obstetric department including organization of environment, maintenance of equipment, assisting with operative/delivery room procedures, basic tasks necessary to provide for care, comfort and safety of patients, and clerical support. Responsible to the Labor and Delivery Leadership, Charge Nurses and the RN's on duty on each assigned shift.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

Previous experience as a Surgical Tech or OB Tech is strongly preferred.

EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:

High School Diploma or equivalent and one of the following; a graduate of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited Medical Assistant Program (Associate, Diploma, or Certificate), or a graduate of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited Surgical Technologist Program (Associate, Diploma, or Certificate), or CNA or LPN is required. Incumbents in the position prior to October 1, 2016 may substitute this educational requirement with the following statement - minimum of 2 years work experience in an clinical setting is required.

SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:

Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology and medical terminology is required.

LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:

Licensure requirement to align with education. CNA and LPN program completion requires the corresponding state of Wisconsin License. MA and Surgical Technologist graduates do not require any additional licensure. In addition, American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
