Job description

Position Title:
Clinical Coordinator (Assistant Professor), Physician Assistant Program - FTE .5
Job Description:
The Clinical Coordinator will work closely with the clinical education team to promote program success with a strong focus on the clinical phase. The Clinical Coordinator will hold teaching duties primarily related to Supervised Clinical Practice Experiences. In addition, they will support identifying, developing, and maintaining adequate clinical affiliate sites and preceptors consistent with accreditation requirements.
The Clinical Coordinator will report to the Director of Clinical Education and ultimately to the Program Director.
Continued employment is contingent on successful program accreditation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide academic instruction and evaluate student performance as assigned including serving as course instructor of record for Supervised Clinical Practice Experience (SCPE) courses.
  • Support the alignment between what is expected and taught according to the accreditation requirements.
  • Maintain faculty-student engagement throughout the clinical phase.
  • Utilize the clinical learning management system to monitor and evaluate student clinical experience and clinical site performance data.
  • Recruit, develop, coordinate, maintain, visit, and monitor clinical sites, clinical experiences, and preceptors in conjunction with the Director of Clinical Education. Maintain positive relationships with partners.
  • Serve as a faculty advisor to students and monitor advisee progress in the program.
  • Actively participate in the processes of:
    • developing, reviewing, and revising as necessary the mission statement, goals, and competencies of the program,
    • selecting applicants for admission to the PA program,
    • providing student instruction,
    • evaluating student performance,
    • academic counseling of students,
    • assuring the availability of remedial instruction,
    • designing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating the curriculum, and
    • evaluating the program.
  • Support the PA program in ongoing accreditation activities aligned with professional standards.
  • Participate in program committees as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Participate in student training and orientation sessions.
  • Facilitate small group learning activities as assigned.
  • Participate in admissions activities to include prospective student recruitment, evaluation, and selection.
  • Maintain and update educational equipment and online learning resources.
  • Maintain a collegial learning and working environment for the faculty, staff, students, community partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Stay current with trends and developments in PA education and clinical practice.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the field through scholarly activities, presentations, or publications if applicable.
  • One release day per week for clinical practice or other approved activity if applicable for full-time positions.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Education, Program Director, Associate Program Director, or Dean.
  • Travel to clinical sites is required for this position.

Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:
  • Minimum Master's degree in an appropriate field from an accredited university.
  • Current NCCPA certification.
  • Minimum of three years clinical experience as a PA.
