Job description

Program Assistant
We are seeking a part-time Program Assistant to provide interactive programming for residents of the Skilled Nursing Center and Assisted Care.
Schedule: Two days per week — Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Hours: 10 hours per week, non-benefited position
Pay Range: $20 - $25 per hour (based on experience)
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in organizing, coordinating and running daily activity programs and one on one visits.
  • Evaluation effectiveness of programs and contractors and provide feedback.
  • Prepare function requests and check requests as assigned.
  • Assist in the maintenance of electronic calendars for healthcare units. Post monthly and daily activities on units.
  • Assist with transport to/from programs to ensure maximum resident participation.
  • Enter attendance and participation levels for each program in activity software.
  • Report any changes in resident’s cognitive or physical functioning to the charge nurse/unit director.
  • Meet with residents to select independent events and enter in personal calendars as assigned.
  • Motivate and encourage all residents to participate in daily programming.
  • Provide support to outside entertainers, clergy, volunteers and others as needed to facilitate programming.
  • Communicate with nursing staff on daily programs available.
  • Decorate boards and units orienting residents to season/holiday/special events.
  • Check in with temporary residents to assist them with daily pursuits and leisure interests.
  • Assist with mail, newspapers and weekly program schedule
  • Accept flexible weekend, holiday and evening schedule to support the program schedule.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in a customer service role, preferably in an elder care setting.
  • Experience in nursing home or assisted living activities role, and/or be eligible for certification in the activity profession.
