An Off-Campus Work-Study Position - MUST have a Work-Study Award

Position Summary:
The X Studio Program Assistant works alongside the X Studio team to support workforce development programming for Albuquerque youth in STEAM careers. This role helps greet and engage visitors and program participants, assists with facilitating activities and demonstrations, and supports the maintenance of program materials and exhibit components. The Program Assistant helps create engaging, effective STEAM experiences both onsite and during community outreach, and supports the recording and organizing of program data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Create warmth and welcome for all X Studio visitors and program participants.
Greet and interact with visitors and youth participants according to Explora's pedagogy.
Assist in facilitating STEAM demonstrations, activities, and programs for a variety of audiences, both at the museum and in the community.
Support the maintenance and organization of program materials.
Assist with recording and organizing data related to X Studio programs.
Collaborate with X Studio staff and educators on program development and delivery.
Demonstrate excellent customer service and help maintain a welcoming atmosphere.
Deal appropriately with visitor comments or concerns, escalating as needed.
Comply with all operational policies, particularly those related to safety.

Functional Work Characteristics:
Requires sufficient skills to work in a business environment, including organizing, coordinating, exercising daily decision-making, analyzing, and interpreting.
Requires effective eye-and-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
Requires standing and walking approximately 25% of the time, with a regular need to perform physical actions that include sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling materials, pulling, carrying, and pushing.
May occasionally require lifting various materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work Conditions:
Most essential duties are performed in a museum and office environment with exposure to a variety of business equipment and other pertinent materials normally found in this type of work setting.
Museum facilities may expose the incumbent to high noise levels, temperature changes, liquid nitrogen, helium gas, electrical exposure, unpredictable ventilation, dust, and physical obstacles.
Work is normally performed in an area of limited privacy.
