SUMMARY ย The After-School Care Program Assistant supports and assist the After-School Care Coordinator in providing and ย managing a warm, safe, healthy, nurturing after-school environment in which each child can participate in enriching afterschool activities and grow socially, emotionally and spiritually. Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. ย 

  • ย Supervise students in grades K-8 during after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. ย 
  • Assist in planning and facilitating daily activities, including homework help, games, and enrichment activities.ย 
  • Prepare and serve snacks to students, ensuring proper hygiene and food safety standards are followed.ย 
  • Implement behavior management strategies aligned with Catholic teachings and the program's policies.ย 
  • Monitor indoor and outdoor play areas, enforcing safety guidelines and conflict resolution when necessary.ย

  • Maintain accurate attendance records and assist with check-in/check-out procedures.ย 
  • Communicate with parents through Brightwheel or other school communication platforms regarding their child's ย participation and behavior.ย 
  • Assist in cleaning and organizing the facility at the end of the day, ensuring a safe environment.ย 
  • Prepares materials and classrooms for activities. ? Enforces all administration policies and rules governing students.ย 
  • Identifies children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health-related problems and discuss them with the After-Care coordinator and/or school/ELC administration.ย 
  • Arranges indoor and outdoor space to facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities, and safety.ย 
  • Carries out appropriate, positive guidance as established by the After-Care Coordinator.ย 
  • Participates as a cooperative and supportive team member. ? Implements program goals.ย 
  • Assists in record/incident keeping for the program.ย 
  • Assisting with housekeeping, disinfection, tidiness and decorative needs of the program space as directed. ย 

ย PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ย ย ย 

  • ย Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, including moving supplies and small furniture.ย 
  • Frequent standing, walking, and bending to interact with students, including active play and outdoor ย activities.ย 
  • Ability to supervise outdoor activities in various weather conditions.ย 

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIESย 

  • Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate activities.ย 
  • Ability to manage groups of children and foster a positive environment.ย 
  • Effective communication skills with students, parents, and staff, ensuring clarity and a respectful ย tone.ย 
  • Basic first aid knowledge or the ability to receive training.ย 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.ย
