Job Title: Housing Program Officer Intern, Temporary Term Contract Position ending March 31, 2027

Location of Position. Stephenville, NL

Hours of Work: 35 hours/ week.

Salary: $40,500.00 yearly.


Job Description and Requirements:


The Department of Health and Wellness under Qalipu First Nation has partnered with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation under the Atlantic Indigenous Youth Development Project to seek an enthusiastic, self-starter, and dedicated youth (under 30 years of age) for the role of Housing Program Officer Intern. The successful applicant will provide and coordinate administrative support, statistical analysis, report writing, and funding proposal writing. The Officer Intern will also foster, develop, and provide community engagement and partnership development, and comply with established organizational policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively work with internal and external partners to secure the resources needed to advance housing initiatives.
  • Actively work to connect with community members to distribute information and receive feedback on the housing programs.
  • Assist with overseeing daily housing operations
  • Assisting Band Members with accessing housing programming.
  • Assist with data collection and maintain statistics and documentation for evaluation and reporting purpose.
  • Support the development and administering of Band lead housing initiatives.
  • Provide project management support for QFN housing.
  • Provide support to band members in accessing other community-based housing programs.
  • Actively support the preparation of quarterly, annual, and other scheduled reports to management, council, and funding partners.
  • Other duties as required.



Qualifications:

Education: Post-secondary education with a degree or diploma in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, and Commerce. Alternate degree/diploma may be considered with sufficient demonstration of the necessary skills and abilities required to meet the demands of the position.

Experience:

  • Knowledge of office administration and records management procedures.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning and project management.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning.
  • Knowledge of appropriate computer software applications such as MS Office.
  • The ability to work independently, in a fast- paced environment and to be able to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Effective organizational skills.

Working Conditions:


This position is office based. The duties are predominantly met during regular business hours. Some overtime work and travel will be required.


Full-time Term Employee Benefits:

Annual Leave: - Three weeks per year.

Statutory and Non-Statutory Holidays: Employees are entitled to 13 days off to cover Statutory and Non-statutory holidays per year.

Office Hours: Office hours are from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Thursday, Friday 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Christmas Break: the office closes during the Christmas break, this is an added bonus that employees are entitled to.

Sick and Family Medical: Full Time Employees are entitled to 12 paid sick/family medical days per year.

Under 2 hours Medical Appointment: Employees may attend an appointment of less than 2 hours with no deductions to Sick and Family Medical.

Discretionary Bereavement: One day off per year for the death of a relative not included as immediate family, a close friend or neighbour.

Volunteer Program: Employees may volunteer outside of the organization up to 21 hours per year.
