Tow and Recovery Specialist

Plush Tow & Transport – St. Louis, MO
Full-Time | On-Call Rotation | Pay: Commission-Based + Performance Bonuses

Position Summary:

The Tow and Recovery Specialist is responsible for safely operating a tow truck to provide roadside assistance, accident recovery, winch-outs, private impounds, and scheduled transports. This role requires a high level of independence, judgment, and customer service, with a strong understanding of safety protocols and DOT compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate rollback (flatbed) and/or wrecker tow trucks

  • Perform light-duty roadside assistance (jump starts, tire changes, lockouts, fuel delivery)

  • Respond to accident scenes, impounds, breakdowns, and customer calls

  • Communicate professionally with dispatch, customers, police, and insurance reps

  • Use GPS, tow management apps, and digital logs accurately

  • Maintain a clean, organized truck and follow all safety and DOT regulations

  • Perform pre/post-trip inspections and basic truck maintenance

  • Take clear photos for documentation and damage prevention

  • Be available for rotating on-call shifts, including nights/weekends as needed

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class E (MO) or equivalent driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required)

  • Clean MVR (no recent DUIs, reckless driving, or major violations)

  • At least 1 year of towing or commercial driving experience preferred

  • Ability to lift 50-75 lbs, work in all weather conditions, and handle physical tasks

  • Strong situational awareness and critical thinking under pressure

  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to follow instructions without micromanagement

  • Familiarity with dispatch software, GPS apps, and smartphones
