Professional medical coders are healthcare workers who review clinical documents and assign standardized codes to diagnoses, treatments, and medical procedures. These codes are used for billing insurance companies, maintaining patient records, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Medical coders play a critical role in the healthcare system by ensuring accurate and efficient processing of health information so providers are reimbursed properly.
