About the role
Epiphany School seeks a full-time Instructional Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year for our Upper School division, supporting a third grade classroom. The Instructional Assistant will work in collaboration with the lead teachers and specialists with a diverse range of services of daily tasks and teaching. This includes assisting with delivering the curriculum, managing supplies and resources, working with the students, and other activities to support teaching and learning in the homeroom and specialist classrooms. This position will also participate in robust professional learning and school community events.
The ideal candidate for this role is a collaborative, compassionate, and skilled educator who is passionate about supporting the academic and personal growth of our emerging leaders. This individual thrives in a dynamic learning environment and demonstrates flexibility, initiative, provides a consistent, nurturing presence, and brings a strong commitment to equitable practices and fostering inclusive learning environments. Their strong foundation in elementary education and understanding of classroom and behavioral management techniques allows them to confidently lead a classroom in the absence of a lead teacher and contribute meaningfully to a team-oriented teaching environment.
This is a non-exempt, full-time, academic year position, reporting to the Upper Elementary Assistant Head of School.
Location
The person in this role must work in-person on the school campus in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Epiphany School does not cover or reimburse relocation costs and/or expenses.
Standard school operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm during the academic year, 5:00pm on Wednesdays to attend staff meetings.
Expected start date for the 2026-27 school year is August 19, 2026, to attend new employee orientation (8/19/26 - 8/20/26), pre-service the week of August 24th, and first day of school is September 1st, 2026. Expected end date is June 15th, 2027.
What you'll do
Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist lead teacher and specialist teachers on planning and teaching the curriculum
  • Work with students as a class, small group, and individually
  • Assist in classroom management
  • Act as classroom lead when lead teacher is not present; Teach students directly as a co-teacher and during re-teaching/enrichment periods
  • Collaborate with teaching team on planning, curriculum and themes for program alignment
  • Collaborate with teams in our Professional Learning Community
  • Utilize equitable practices that support all learners
  • Prepare and restore classroom and supplies
  • Support student assessment process
  • Help classroom teachers and learning specialists assess individual students' needs
  • Assist with coordination and monitoring of teaching activities, including field trips and on-site experiences
  • May be requested to join lead teacher during conferences

Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Epiphany School seeks candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to collaboration and lifelong learning, as well as an expertise in best practices in elementary education
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field(s) or a combination of education and experience preferred
  • Teaching Certification and endorsement in grade or field preferred
  • Experience teaching or working with children in grades 2-4, with third grade preferred
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentational communication skills in the English language
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience and comfort working in a Microsoft environment including MS Office
  • Must be collaborative, proactive, resourceful, and organized
  • Ability to multi-task and to maintain professionalism in a creative and changing environment

Compensation & Benefits
The starting salary range for this role is between $47,578 - $59,331, according to Epiphany School's instructional assistant pay scale and based on years of experience. When determining an initial offer, we carefully consider these factors and will ask the intended hire for documentation to verify the correct pay level.
