Job description

Development Coordinator

Reports To: Director of Resource Developmentย ย ย ย 

Position Status: Full-Time (40 HRS)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Development Coordinator serves as a critical member of Gateway Centerโ€™s Resource Development team,

functioning as the administrative and operational anchor of the department. This role is responsible for designing, coordinating, and supporting the execution of a comprehensive grants strategy, while also ensuring the effective management of fundraising systems, campaigns, and donor data.

Working collaboratively with the Director of Resource Development and the CEO, the Development Coordinator will help implement and build upon the organizationโ€™s Development Plan, supporting efforts to expand philanthropic revenue, strengthen donor engagement, support fundraising event planning/implementation, and enhance the departmentโ€™s operational efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Grants & Development Strategy (20%)

  • Support the design and execution of a comprehensive grant application and management strategy
  • Research prospective funding opportunities and individual donors aligned with organizational priorities and mission
  • Assist in preparing and submitting grant proposals, reports, and supporting documentation
  • Maintain a grants calendar to ensure timely submissions and compliance with funder requirements

Database Management โ€“ Raiserโ€™s Edge NXT (30%)

  • Maintain and manage the integrity of all donor and constituent records in Raiserโ€™s Edge NXT
  • Perform ongoing data entry, updates, and audits to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Generate reports to support fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and leadership decision-making
  • Identify, research, and cultivate new individual donors by utilizing data-driven
  • prospecting strategies, leveraging CRM tools, and building meaningful relationships that align donor interests with the organizationโ€™s mission and funding priorities.
  • Support gift processing and acknowledgment workflows in coordination with Director of Resource Development

Digital Campaign Management โ€“ GoFundMe (30%)

  • Develop, launch, and manage online fundraising campaigns and events through the GoFundMe (formerly Classy) platform
  • Monitor campaign performance and optimize outreach strategies to maximize engagement and revenue
  • Process and reconcile online donations in coordination with finance and development teams
  • Ensure timely donor acknowledgment and stewardship for digital contributors

Additional Development Support โ€“ 20%

  • Provide administrative and logistical support for fundraising events and donor engagement activities
  • Assist with general development office operations, including scheduling, communications, and materials preparation
  • Track deadlines and project milestones using Monday.com or a comparable project management system
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field required (equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in fundraising, development operations, or a
  • related nonprofit function preferred, with demonstrated exposure to donor engagement, grants, or campaign support.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Raiserโ€™s Edge NXT (or comparable CRM) required, including data entry, reporting, and donor record management; experience with GoFundMe or similar peer-to-peer fundraising platforms strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to manage data, generate reports, and support data-informed decision-making.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and communicate with diverse stakeholders, including donors, community partners, volunteers, and internal teams.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated adaptability, intellectual curiosity, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Commitment to a collaborative, solutions-oriented work culture, with a proactive approach to meeting and exceeding organizational goals.
  • Professional resilience and persistence, including the ability to respond constructively to
  • funding challenges and proposal rejections while maintaining momentum toward development goals.
