Job Overview - System Administrator

Our client is seeking an experienced System Administrator to support and maintain enterprise infrastructure across both corporate and manufacturing environments. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of critical IT systems while supporting end users and production operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong Microsoft infrastructure expertise, virtualization experience, and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities โ€“ Systems Administrator

  • Administer and support Microsoft technologies including Office 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams), Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
  • Manage Windows 10/11 desktop environments and endpoint administration.
  • Support manufacturing and industrial IT systems, including plant-floor workstations, specialized production software, barcode scanners, printers, and related devices.
  • Maintain VMware virtualization environments and enterprise storage systems.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and availability; respond to outages and critical incidents to minimize operational disruption.
  • Apply system patches, upgrades, and security updates while adhering to change management procedures.
  • Manage user accounts, access controls, and security policies.
  • Provide Tier 2 technical support and assist with escalations and high-priority incidents as needed.
  • Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, and asset inventories.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects, equipment upgrades, and technology deployments.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to support business-critical production systems and drive process improvements.

Qualifications โ€“ Systems Administrator

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience and technical certifications will be considered.
  • 5+ years of IT infrastructure and systems administration experience.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, or production environments is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Experience with SCCM or similar endpoint management solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware virtualization and enterprise storage technologies.
  • PowerShell scripting and automation experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of IT security, user access management, and endpoint protection.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exposure to manufacturing technologies such as SCADA, MES, PLCs, or HMI systems is a plus.
  • Basic Linux knowledge is beneficial but not required.
