Production Line Worker Jobs (NOW HIRING)

This position is for legally blind individuals that are able to provide documentation of this fact.

Basic Function

The primary duty of a production line worker is to put together finished products and the various pieces that go together to form finished products. The production line worker uses various tools, machines and/or equipment in conjunction with hands, to complete his work that may sometimes involve cutting, trimming, folding, gluing, or stitching components.
General Duties and Responsibilities

• Assemble product kits based on customer requirements
• Repeat tasks for long periods without making errors
• Meet or exceed department productivity and quality standards
• Maintain an uncluttered workstation
• Repetitive and persistent work required
• Follow procedural processes
• An integral part of the production process
• May be required to move products from one location to another using pallet jack

Restrictions: in support of the Lighthouse mission, production line workers are limited to legally blind, blind, or significantly visually impaired persons.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge/Skills

• Ability to manually prepare kits using repetitive arm and hand movements
• Ability to perform physical activities (i.e. at times required to carry, push, pull, or lift a maximum of 50 lbs. (weight over 50 lbs. must be shared with someone else or lifting equipment must be used), stand at a production station for extended periods up to 8 hours a day), may be required to use a pallet jack
• Ability to communicate in English
• Good interpersonal and communicative skills
• Ability to arrive at work on time and be at your production station ready for work
• Ability to use assistive technology effectively
• Ability to learn braille
• Ability to deal pleasantly and courteously with management and co-workers

Education and/or Experience

• Experience or prior training in a production/assembly work environment is a plus, but not necessarily required

• High School diploma, GED, or suitable work experience or training required

Physical Requirements

• Sit, stand, walk, hear, kneel, crouch, bend
• Use of hands, fingers, feel, handle objects
• Carry, push, pull, or lift a minimum of 50 lbs. (weight exceeding 50 lbs. must be shared with a co-worker or by using lifting equipment)
• May be required to operate a pallet jack

GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

• Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
• Kneeling: Bending legs at the knee to come to rest on the knee or knees.
• Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending the leg and spine.
• Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
• Standing: Particularly for sustained periods.
• Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks or moving from one work site to another.
• Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
• Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
• Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
• Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas using the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
• Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discriminations in sound.
• Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
• The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause a worker to shout to be heard above the ambient noise level.
• The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts or exposure to chemicals.
• The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, clouds of dust.

Travel/Transportation

Reliable transportation to and from work and within required business hours is a must.

Pay Rate

Commensurate with market and job level or experience

Employment Classification

Full-time, hourly, non-exempt

Manufacturing Hours

Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. with occasional hours outside of regular manufacturing hours as needed to meet objectives and position responsibilities.

We are closed on Friday and have a 4 day work week.
