Job description

Production Graphic Designer (Packaging & Print)
Position Summary
The Production Graphic Designer supports Barr Brands' marketing and commercial objectives by executing accurate, production-ready design across packaging and product materials. This role is a core contributor within the in-house creative function, partnering closely with Marketing and Brand leads across Barr's CPG product portfolio to translate approved direction into precise, compliant, and manufacturable product label artwork.
This position is heavily focused on production and execution. Approximately 70% or more of the role's workload centers on packaging artwork, mechanicals, versioning, and print file preparation within regulated environments, including EPA- and VOC-governed labeling requirements. The Production Graphic Designer serves as a trusted execution partner and production expert-responsible for technical accuracy, version control, and print readiness, while proactively identifying risks related to compliance, feasibility, or downstream artwork production.
The Production Graphic Designer works collaboratively alongside another Production Graphic Designer, sharing ownership of packaging execution across Barr Brands' portfolio. Most concept-led packaging and in-store creative development is handled by external design agencies; internally, this role focuses on translating that creative into consistent, high-quality, production-ready assets.
This is an individual contributor role who will partner closely with another graphic designer and reports directly to the Director of eCommerce and Marketing Services.
This role is based at Barr Brands' corporate headquarters in Memphis, TN, and the team operates on a hybrid schedule, with three core in-office days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and remote work as an option on Monday and Friday.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Executes production-ready packaging artwork, including label updates, back-of-pack layouts, claims changes, SKU versioning, and line extensions.
  • Develops, updates, and maintains mechanical files, including dielines, bleeds, color specifications, barcodes, and regulatory text placement.
  • Prepares accurate, print-ready files for internal review, vendor proofing, and final production, ensuring adherence to printer, substrate, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Manages high-volume revisions and versioning with precision, maintaining consistency across multiple SKUs, brands, and product families.
  • Ensures all packaging artwork complies with applicable regulatory standards, including EPA and VOC requirements, and flags potential compliance or accuracy risks early.
  • Partners closely with Marketing, Brand and cross functionals to understand briefs, priorities, timelines, and executional requirements.
  • Executes internal production work based on creative direction developed by external agencies, ensuring faithful translation of approved concepts into final artwork.
  • Works in close coordination with another Production Graphic Designer to distribute workload, maintain consistency, and support shared production standards.
  • Acts as a technical and production advisor, raising concerns when creative direction, timelines, or specifications may create print, cost, or compliance issues.
  • Supports internal review and approval workflows, incorporating feedback accurately and efficiently.
  • Produces limited from-scratch design work as needed: packaging extensions, updates, marketing collateral (sales sheets, etc.), eCommerce assets and internal marketing needs.
  • Creates 2D product renderings from written specifications to support early-stage concept reviews and internal alignment.
  • Builds 3D product renderings and images using approved, production-ready artwork to visualize final products.
  • Provides realistic time estimates for assigned work and communicates progress to support on-time delivery.
  • Maintains organized working files and version control to support traceability and efficient future updates.
  • Upholds Barr Brands' brand standards and quality expectations across all deliverables.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve production workflows, templates, and standards to increase efficiency and reduce error.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional graphic design experience in an in-house or agency environment.
  • Demonstrated experience producing production-ready artwork with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Hands-on experience with packaging production, mechanicals, and print file preparation.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite for print production.
  • Proven ability to manage detailed revisions, versioning, and multiple SKUs simultaneously.
  • Must submit a portfolio of CPG/brand related assets you created or were a core contributor
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
  • Experience supporting consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands.
  • Experience collaborating with external creative agencies and internal marketing teams.
  • Experience working in regulated packaging environments, including compliance-driven labeling requirements.
  • Familiarity with prepress considerations, including dielines, bleeds, color and font management, and printer specifications.
  • Experience with 3D modeling or rendering software (Adobe Dimensions preferred).
  • Mac OS experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 with emphasis on creating or maintaining PowerPoint templates.

Key Competencies
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong production and technical design skills, with a clear understanding of print and packaging constraints.
  • Ability to execute efficiently within established brand systems and creative direction.
  • Clear, professional communication skills and confidence raising technical or feasibility concerns.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills in a high-volume, execution-driven environment.
  • Sense of ownership and accountability for quality, consistency, and deadlines.
  • Appreciation for craftsmanship, precision, and executional excellence.
