Position Title Graphics Artist Reports To Area Head
Functions and Responsibilities
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Public Relations or designee, the Graphic Artist designs and develops artwork for a diverse array of materials and prepares print items for camera-ready production.
Please Note: Essex County College does not provide visa sponsorship of any kind. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and for the duration of employment.
Compensation: This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $22.00 - $24.00 per hour.

Supervisory Role
Oral and written instructions are received from the Public Relations Director or designee.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Develops artwork for a broad range of printing projects including promotional literature, brochures, fliers, invitations, posters and banners.
2. Designs artwork for a variety of special projects including the college catalog and special reports.
3. Prepares camera-ready materials for print production utilizing both computer graphics and traditional paste-up formats.
4. Provides creative input in project layout and job specifications involving all phases of graphic art and design.
5. Coordinates the design and posting of printed materials for bulletin boards maintained by Public Relations.
6. Monitors/orders supplies and prepares monthly chargebacks for graphic services.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities
1. Bachelor's degree in art, graphic design or related field.
2. Demonstrated work experience in the graphics field with specific knowledge of all phases of layout and design and a working knowledge of computer graphics.

3. Ability to work under pressure to meet all deadlines.

4. Demonstrated organizational and problem solving skills and the ability to work independently on projects.

5. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
Minimum Education Requirements Bachelor's Degree Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities
1. Ongoing training in computer graphics to remain current with constantly evolving advancements in the field.

2. Ability to conceptualize key elements of graphic design and provide abstract proposals for clients.

3. Excellent interpersonal skills.
