Production Engineer Jobs in Virginia (NOW HIRING)

TES Consultants is seeking an AV/VTC Production Engineer to design, integrate, operate, and sustain audiovisual and video teleconferencing systems for a federal agency client in the National Capital Region. This is the engineering seat on the AV team: where the specialists keep rooms running, you decide how they are built and how they perform.

The role combines systems engineering with live production. On the engineering side you will develop signal flow diagrams and equipment layouts, configure AV-over-IP networks, and configure and maintain digital signal processors, control processors, cameras, microphones, displays and switching equipment. On the production side you will operate live meetings, executive presentations, town halls, webinars, and webcasts — live switching, audio mixing, recording, and streaming — and handle post-production editing where the agency needs finished media.

You will also carry the deeper troubleshooting: codec performance, interoperability between platforms, and the faults the rest of the team escalates. This position is designated Key Personnel.

•  Ten (10) years of experience in audiovisual and video teleconferencing engineering, production, or a combination of both.

•  AV system design and integration, including signal flow diagrams, equipment layouts, and system documentation.

•  Configuration and maintenance of digital signal processors (DSP), control processors, cameras, microphones, displays, and presentation switchers.

•  Configuring networks supporting AV-over-IP technologies.

•  Live production: video switching, audio mixing, camera operation, recording and streaming for meetings, town halls, and webcasts.

•  Setting up and managing Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Cisco Webex, and Poly RealPresence, including coordinating connections between multiple locations.

•  Advanced troubleshooting of audio quality, video transmission, network connectivity, codec performance, and AV hardware failures.

•  Preventive maintenance, upgrades, and lifecycle replacement planning for AV equipment.

•  Ability to pass a full-field five-year employment background investigation (SF-85P, Questionnaire for Public Trust Positions) prior to starting work.

•  Authorized to work in the United States; all work performed within the United States.

•  Professional written and verbal communication, and a customer-service manner suitable for supporting executives and senior officials.

Bachelor's degree (any discipline).

•  Bachelor's degree required (see Required Skills). A degree in audiovisual technology, broadcast production, media production, electronics, or engineering is directly relevant but not required.

Certifications.

•  AVIXA CTS-D (Design) or CTS-I (Installation) — strongly preferred.

•  Crestron Certified Programmer; Extron AV Associate, Specialist or Master.

•  Biamp Tesira or QSC Q-SYS certification.

•  Dante Certification (Levels 1–3).

•  Cisco CCNA or Cisco Collaboration certification.

•  Adobe Certified Professional in Premiere Pro.

•  Video editing and post-production in Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or comparable tools.

•  Blackmagic video switchers and production hardware.

•  Motion graphics, animation, storyboarding, and visual storytelling.

•  Graphic design in support of executive communications and events.

•  Projection systems and LED display technologies.

•  Commissioning and acceptance testing of newly installed AV systems, and transitioning them into operational support.

•  Experience acting as the escalation point for a team of AV technicians.

•  Prior experience supporting a federal agency, particularly a small agency where one team covers a broad scope.

•  Experience supporting an organization with geographically distributed field offices.

•  Familiarity with ITIL-aligned service management (incident, problem, change, and knowledge management).

•  Experience working within an enterprise ticketing system such as Zendesk, ServiceNow or Jira Service Management.

•  Active or recent federal background investigation or security clearance.
