POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Production Control Assistant Planner, under the direction of the Production Control Coordinator, assists in preparing, maintaining and monitoring the company's Production Plan schedules and requirements. This position also assists in other departmental tasks and projects as assigned.
ORGANIZATIONAL SUPERVISION, REPORTING AND INTERFACE
The Production Control Assistant Planner reports directly to the Coordinator of Production Control and works directly with all members of the Production Control team, Production and Warehouse Supervisors, Purchasing, Customer Support, and Engineering. The Production Control Assistant Planner will also interface with other associates within the Peterson Manufacturing Organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists in preparing, maintaining, and monitoring the company's Master Production plan in accordance with directives
  • Checks planned orders for material shortages before orders to the shop are released, and works with Planners and Schedulers to rectify any shortage situation or other materials problem
  • Prepares work order packets by assembling related paperwork
  • Verifies work order files and closes them out once the work order is completed
  • Works with the Production Planner in loading and scheduling orders and monitoring the work schedules and load centers when necessary
  • Inputs various edits to update weekly
  • Reviewing lead time, lot sizing techniques, and product families to determine feasible run quantities
  • Works to remedy any capacity vacancies or bottlenecks
  • Monitors the forecast and recommends any needed changes to the Coordinator
  • Works with Sales and Customer Support to properly schedule new products
  • Maintains proper inventory levels for assigned products

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Above average interpersonal skills, ability to work with limited direct supervision, and to deal effectively with associates within all levels of the company. Must have strong math and analytical abilities
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and willing to work under time constraints and demanding deadlines
  • Proficient in computer skills with strong experience using Microsoft Suite products

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • A.A. or equivalent
  • A.P.I.C.S training/certification, preferred
  • Experience at a manufacturing facility, preferred

ENVIRONMENT
  • Duties are performed indoors at the corporate offices in Grandview, MO.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time.
  • Must be able to occasionally walk throughout the production floor and entire campus.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, use stairs or elevators to access offices on other floors of building, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, computer printer, and phone.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with others internally who may have various inquiries, etc. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
