Job description

Summary of Job

The Production Blender Operator is responsible for verifying that batch requisitions materials and quantities are received.  The Blender operator will measure and blend ingredients according to customers’ specifications. The Blender ensures the blending process and equipment runs effectively.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Comply with all safety processes and procedures.
  • Inspects product to verify conformance to customer specifications, including proper application of ingredients/materials.
  • Records all ingredients received and used during each shift.
  • Measure and blend ingredients according to batch sheet instructions and monitor blending process. 
  • Operates auxiliary equipment associated with the operations of the machine including but not limited to weigh scales, conveyor systems, etc 
  • Ensures blender is maintained in a sanitary condition.
  • Recommends measures to improve methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Analyzes production problems and assists team members in solving them.
  • Maintains process control paperwork
  • Ensure test pieces are fed through metal detector per SOP frequency.
  • Ability to make weight adjustments on filler/Control seal bar temperature / dwell time and pressure
  • Ensure products are being fed through metal detectors. Ensure test pieces are fed through metal detector per SOP frequency.
  • Operates other packaging related equipment such as conveyors, tape machines, hand jacks, etc.
  • Sets up and break down of machine(s). Correctly disassemble blender, sifter, cluster collector/Clean and sanitize equipment and work area.
  • Obtain all required paperwork for shift (e.g, scale verification, batch blend, time blend)
  • Train all new employees and general laborers on duties needed to maintain line.
  • Ensures that all work activities are performed with attention to the highest standards for quality, safety and compliance with all appropriate legal and food safety requirements and a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Reports on any unsafe or hazardous work conditions or safety-related issues to Management.
  • Perform general labor duties assigned, and other duties assigned by management.

Education and Qualifications

  • Minimum Required:
    • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of previous Machine Operator experience.
    • Preferred: 3 -5 years of Machine Operator experience.
    • Basic troubleshooting and basic maintenance

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping, climbing stairs, twisting, and bending frequently
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

  • Follow all relevant food safety rules including SQF, cGMPs, and Food Defense.
  • Report any observed food safety violations to your supervisor immediately.
