Job description

Job Summary:
The Product Integration Engineer is a key role within the American Rheinmetall (AR) engineering team focused on ensuring that EMD prototypes are produced on schedule, functionally integrated, and operate to the desired design and performance expectations resulting in a unified product. The Product Integration Engineer is responsible for supporting the integration planning beginning with the design phase and through prototype integration testing and verification. This ensures all the components, subsystems, and software functions are integrated together in the prototype to work together seamlessly to deliver the desired functionality and user experience to our customers. The Product Integration Engineer also assists the team to diagnose and fix integration issues during prototype system build and verification/validation testing.
Essential Functions:
  • Help Prepare and execute integration plans and schedules for products and prototypes during design work with designated IPT Leads.
  • Track material availability for prototype builds occurring in the prototype shop as required.
  • Direct mechanics during build activities within the prototype shop environment for pre-prototype assets such as the Automotive Test Rig (ATR) and prototype vehicles including, but not limited to SMET, CTT, and XM-30.
  • Assist in identifying and coordinating testing and verification in the HIL/SIL and platform integration prior to delivery.
  • Work with engineering IPT's to determine integration requirements and develop and implement integration risk reductions.
  • Coordinate the technical execution across major suppliers and partners during design, build, and test.
  • Accurately report work scope and hours to engineering leadership.
  • Review Technical Documents and Safety Statements according to law and/or contractual conditions.
  • Support and adhere to all company safety and environmental regulations & policies.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time. Occasional travel to Europe may be required.
  • Accommodate extended remote assignment to manufacturing sites as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)
  • Ability to understand multi-disciplinary complex systems and how they interact. (Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic/Pneumatic, and Cooling)
  • Ability to work across the organization to accomplish programmatic and project goals
  • Strong track record of tackling complex problems through planning, organizing, and executing action plans
  • Ability to present technical solutions to internal and external stakeholders
  • Practical 'hands on' attitude with the ability to operate independently
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in a variety of settings and be able to assimilate complex instructions easily.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and staff to establish productive relationships. Superior consultation, diplomacy, influencing and negotiating skills is required.
  • Must possess the ability to explain complex concepts in a way that makes sense to someone less knowledgeable about the topic
  • Must promote collaboration and facilitate teamwork across the organization and its external service providers.
  • Must display exceptional listening and analytical skills to understand customer concerns and needs with the ability to respond promptly and effectively to those needs.
  • Familiarity with the US DoD ground vehicle requirements
  • Knowledge of the US DoD process and procedures for vehicle development and procurement
  • Detailed knowledge in Industrial Engineering and related Standards/ Processes
  • High level of self-motivation and standards with the ability to multi-task; balancing "analysis" with "doing".

Preferred Qualifications:
• Functional knowledge of full combat vehicle systems operation with the ability to develop and execute individual subsystems to full functional integration test plans.
  • Engineering Designer experience a plus but not necessary.
  • Certificate in High Voltage Safety Training a plus (Will Train)
  • General Excel, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams experience.

Education:
  • BSc Engineering (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Aerospace, Automotive) or
  • Aviation Technician
  • Extensive Combat Vehicle Technical Build and Test Experience will be considered in lieu of degree
  • Extensive experience in integrating, testing, and troubleshooting complex mechanical systems will be considered in lieu of degree

Experience:
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design or mechanical systems integration/test and troubleshooting
  • Ability to perform fundamental actions within CAD based design systems - Teamcenter/Creo

Background Prerequisites:
  • Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.
  • All employment at ARV is contingent upon the ability to obtain and maintain government security clearance if the position requires it.
