What's in it for you:
Supervises and coordinates daily material flow activities at the site to ensure production needs. Supports any materials operation functions from receiving, inventory, picking, and shipping. The material flow supervisor is responsible for providing materials, equipment, and supplies by directing receiving, warehousing, and distribution services, and supervising staff.
What you will do:
  • Utilization of project management skills to implement lean management efforts to increase velocity and minimize inventory levels.
  • Creates/establishes and owns/operates the action plans, countermeasures, and other critical logistics reports.
  • Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weights or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
  • Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.
  • Manages wooden or cardboard container pack out areas or selects preassembled containers.
  • Accurately completes records, logs, manifests, time sheets and other pertinent documentation to support the job function.
  • Manage relationship with logistics providers and any 3PL shipping providers on or off site.
  • Develop warehouse operation's systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, and creates processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintain logistics staffing job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
  • Continuous development, implementation, enforcement, and evaluation of policies and procedures.
  • Create material flow design by planning layout, product flow, and product handling systems; evaluating and recommending new equipment.
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, and complying with legal regulations.
  • Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Safeguard material operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
  • Control inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system.
  • Maintain physical condition of warehouse and docks by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
  • Complete operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Maintain material staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Maintain material staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Other responsibilities include but are not limited to resolving problems, completing audits, and identifying trends
  • Performs other duties as assigned

What you will bring:
  • In-depth knowledge of computerized integrated information systems (manufacturing, materials management, production planning, procurement and distribution).
  • Be a proactive change agent and possess leadership skills to build and maintain a team oriented environment while leveraging lean methodologies.
  • Problem Solving: Uses data analysis and excellent processes to help predict problem areas and identify areas of opportunity.
  • Possess a strong customer service orientation and must provide dedicated support of internal customer requirements.
  • Analytical : Superior analytical skills
  • Computer: High level proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, etc.), Oracle, OTM, Kodiak, or other warehouse and shipping management systems.
  • Communication: Strong written, oral communication, and presentation skills
  • Bachelors degree in business or engineering discipline preferred
  • APICS Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), or commitment to obtain within the first 18 months of employment.
  • A minimum of 1-5 years of experience in the integrated functions of manufacturing
  • Experience with rate-based or flow line (non-MRP) and job shop manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP and lean manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with visual management systems.
  • Experience operating warehouse equipment and any necessary certifications
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and other inventory control/shipping software
