Product Development & Sourcing Specialist – Consumer Electronics


Position Summary
Well established NYC-based CPG company is seeking a Product Development & Sourcing professional with experience in consumer electronics and mobile accessories, focused on value-driven product development for off-price retail channels and Five Below. Responsible for identifying trends, developing products, sourcing overseas vendors, and managing timelines from concept through production.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and source mobile and tech accessory products including chargers, cables, speakers, earbuds, power banks, gaming accessories, and novelty tech.
  • Work closely with overseas factories and suppliers to negotiate pricing, MOQs, packaging, and production timelines.
  • Identify trend-right, value-focused products suitable for off-price and extreme-value retail environments.
  • Manage product lifecycle from concept, sampling, testing, and costing through final production and delivery.
  • Collaborate with merchandising, design, packaging, and compliance teams to ensure products meet customer and retailer requirements.
  • Monitor competitive market trends, pricing, and innovation within consumer electronics accessories.
  • Ensure products meet quality, safety, and compliance standards for US retail.


Qualifications

  • 3–7+ years of experience in product development and sourcing within consumer electronics or mobile accessories.
  • Strong vendor/factory management experience, preferably in Asia.
  • Knowledge of off-price, discount retail, or value-channel merchandising strategies.
  • Experience with costing, margin management, and production timelines.
  • Familiarity with testing/compliance standards for electronic accessories.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.


Preferred Experience

  • Background working with retailers such as Five Below, TJX, Ross, Burlington, or other value retailers.
  • Experience with trend-driven and impulse-purchase tech products.
  • Ability to manage multiple categories and fast development cycles.
