The salary offered within this range will be based upon the geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level. Salary Range:

$97,900.00 - $162,000.00

Purpose Statement: The collaboration between material sourcing and product development is critical to Plexus' goal of Customer Service Excellence. The Product Development Sourcing Manager role is a key bridge between the engineering and materials functions and will work closely with Engineers and Project Managers to ensure on time and on budget design projects. Managing this important collaboration early in the product development process will lead to favorable cost management and a smooth transition during the Commercialization phase of the Plexus Product Realization Value Stream.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Material Cost Management: Support Engineering and Customer Management during the planning and concept development phases of product development to provide cost estimations for custom engineered components where specifications do not yet exist, or are not yet developed to the point where Materials Costing could provide a detailed quotation.
  • Bill of Materials Management: Responsible to ensure Bill of Material (BOM) cost remains on target during concept and functional specification phases of development projects (phase 0 and 1). Mitigate BOM cost revisions caused by project scope changes, and make sure all stakeholders are in agreement on revised costs and/or product feature tradeoffs.
  • On-time Management: Collaborate with commodity managers/specialists to select the appropriate sourcing strategy for the application/design requirement. Lead supplier negotiations and management of part costs. Ensure on-time completion of applicable deliverables through manufacturing transition.
  • Supplier Project Management: Facilitate effective supplier involvement in design for manufacturability efforts and design revision proposals. Lead collaboration between suppliers, Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering to ensure on-time and successful completion of tooling, product build and qualification.

Education/Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 6 or more years of related experience is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.

Other Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing systems and procedures
  • Experience in development & testing, product development procedures & concepts like Benchmarking, Reverse Engineering
  • Proven negotiation and project management skills
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within an organization Strong data analysis and Decision-making capabilities
  • Continuous improvement mindset

Physical Requirements:

  • Professional office environment with suitable lighting, comfortable temperatures, and low noise level. May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, using a computer, and other office equipment. Minimal physical activity is generally involved, emphasizing the importance of good posture and ergonomic workplace arrangements.

Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 40%
