Position Summary
Kodak Moments is seeking a self-motivated, well-rounded Product Development Engineer to support the design, integration, testing, and lifecycle management of retail photo solutions. This role spans the full product life cycle - from concept through discontinuance and requires collaboration across hardware, software, imaging science, systems engineering, service, and external suppliers.
Responsibilities include developing and integrating new hardware, resolving issues in the field and manufacturing, managing component obsolescence, supporting commercialization, and driving continuous improvements. Occasional domestic and international travel (1-3 times/year) and regular on-site work in the Rochester, NY development labs is required.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Address printer performance issues by determining root causes, identifying solutions, and collaborating with suppliers on implementation.
  • Communicate requirements for new printers and improvements to existing printers to suppliers.
  • Work with the commercialization team to provide end-to-end product development and testing support from concept through lifecycle, including:
    • Evaluating, prototyping, and integrating computers, peripherals, and printers
    • Developing test plans using design of experiments / six sigma methodologies
    • Creating and maintaining documentation, drawings, and specifications for systems and subsystems
    • Maintaining drawing and part databases in support of manufacturing and customer needs
    • Supporting software, QA, and regulatory teams in commercializing solutions
    • Developing detail part/assembly drawings and bills of materials
    • Managing component obsolescence and identifying alternate solutions
  • Collaborate with the cross-functional teams to identify product modifications necessary for new or updated media products.
  • Integrate third party solutions to enhance system capabilities in a scalable and robust manner.
  • Research, evaluate, and test emerging technologies to assess feasibility and potential pathways for implementation.
  • Consistently deliver on project commitments and timelines.

Skills and/or Knowledge Specifications
Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of design of experiments (DoE), root cause analysis (RCA), and statistical analysis tools/methods (JMP and/or Minitab).
  • Proven ability to develop and execute verification test plans and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to create requests for proposals, requests for quotes, and product requirement documents.
  • Proficient with mechanical CAD software (SolidWorks) and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Understanding of integrated electrical and mechanical systems and related manufacturing processes.
  • Preferred knowledge, but not required:
    • Printing technologies (thermal, inkjet, electrophotographic)
    • Digital imaging, photography, and image science
    • Sheet metal design
    • Intellectual property / patent process
    • Familiar with Linux OS environment
    • Product commercialization of photo imaging and printing systems, consumer kiosk systems, or retail systems integration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, Project, PowerPoint, Teams).

Education and/or Experience

Compensation: $73,000 - $100,000 annually, based on level of experience
