Job description

Primary Responsibilities:

Design Ownership, Release & Change Management

  • Create and modify complex parts, drawings, and assembly layouts per corporate standards and procedures; identify and resolve errors before release.
  • Own assigned scope from concept through production release, including change notice activities, BOM verification and release documentation.
  • Support development builds and production troubleshooting by identifying and resolving design issues.
  • Translate requirements into accurate, manufacturable 3D CAD models and drawings.
  • Understand how designs translate into ERP structure, demand planning, and manufacturing orders; diagnose errors in designadjacent information (e.g., incorrect cost rollups) and identify root causes.

Engineering Judgment & Problem Solving

  • Perform and review tolerance stackups, interference checks, and root cause analysis using test data and build feedback.
  • Apply appropriate materials, fasteners, and assembly strategies.
  • Escalate higherrisk decisions appropriately and contribute to design reviews.
  • Apply designformanufacturing and assembly principles with guidance from senior team members.

Leadership Through Influence (Varies by Level)

  • Follow and help reinforce CAD, drafting, and documentation standards.
  • Provide mentorship to other users on fundamental CAD features, PLM workflows and overall workflow proficiency.
  • Seniorlevel scope may include: regular coaching and feedback, recognizing employee contributions, understanding/communicating role expectations across the team, and leading larger crossfunctional teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-7+ years of mechanical design experience in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Willingness to adapt to Sub-Zero Group internal processes and offer experience to influence improvements.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and drafting standards; experience releasing parts/assemblies to production.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments with limited supervision and collaborate crossfunctionally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Design (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with sheet metal, plastics, automation equipment, wiring layouts/schematics (SOLIDWORKS Electrical), and handson shop exposure.
  • Familiarity with formal change processes, documentation discipline, and production support expectations.
  • Experience bringing consumer products from concept to production.
