Job description

The Business Planning Analyst supports ASUS's Retail Business Unit by developing product costing, building financial models, and analyzing key data that guides pricing and product strategy. This role works cross-functionally with Finance, Product Management, and Sales to understand cost drivers, evaluate product and market trends, and translate insights into clear recommendations that support revenue and margin goals. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, advanced Excel proficiency, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in learning how our products work and how financial decisions impact the business. This is a high-visibility position with opportunities to contribute directly to strategic decision-making.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop product costing models for product lifecycle across all product categories
  • Monitor component cost changes, trends, and vendor programs that impact product costing
  • Develop a deep understanding of ASUS product roadmaps, key technology transitions, and relationship with product platforms
  • Lead product planning analysis and support of the Retail Business Unit
  • Detailed financial analysis of additional factors driving profitability, including service and logistics
  • Reconcile product planning with actual financial performance
  • Collaborate with Retail Business Unit management, sales, and finance to drive profitability and top-line growth
  • Support sales with dispute reconciliation with accounting and finance
  • Assist in decisions regarding support sales expenditures including advertising, sell-through programs, and inventory management
Knowledge and Skills:
  • High energy level; comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities
  • Knowledge of business and management principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and interpret complex financial, legal, and technical information
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management and employees on all levels
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, including tactfulness, flexibility, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse personalities
  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive, while recognizing and supporting the company's preferences and priorities
  • Attention to detail is a high priority; must demonstrate a sense of urgency commensurate with the needs of the sales department
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Language Skills:
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present complex information and respond to questions from team members, customers, and the general public
  • English fluency is required
Computer Skills:
  • Mastered skills in MS Excel (advanced proficiency is essential)
  • Proficiency with database applications and presentation software (such as PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge and experience in downloading data from mainframe to PC applications
  • Ability to write ad hoc query reports
Required Qualifications:
Years of Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent degree
Work Experience
  • 3+ years of relevant business experience in Finance or Business Planning
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Mandarin proficiency is a plus
  • Interest in PC products, components, or consumer technology
Working Conditions:
  • This role is based in our Fremont office and follows a hybrid schedule, requiring three days per week in the office
  • Requires sitting, operating a computer keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment for extended periods of time
$80,000-$95,000 annually is the estimated pay range for this role working in the Fremont, California office. It does not include bonuses, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D insurance, Paid Time Off, EAP, & 401(k). The final amount will be determined based on the qualifications & experience of the candidate relative to the role.
