Job description

Malton Electric is seeking a Product Application Engineer in Virginia, Minnesota with a strong foundation in electric motor systems who is looking to apply mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge in a customer-facing, sales-support role.

This position is ideal for someone with an electrical or mechanical engineering background and a strong understanding of electric motors interested in combining hands-on technical problem-solving with customer support and technical sales. The ideal candidate with serve as the technical bridge between the shop, engineering team, and customers to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, promote our services, and act as a liaison between in-house jobs and the customer effectively. This role involves both inside and outside sales responsibilities requiring strong industrial knowledge and a customer-focused approach. Desired experience is 3โ€“5 years; however, we are open to candidates who demonstrate strong potential, cultural fit, and a willingness to learn. Compensation depends on experience.

Objectives
  • Leverage technical expertise in electrical and mechanical engineering to support sales initiatives.ย 
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and vendors by understanding their needs, providing solutions and keeping them informed regarding job-status.
  • Maintain existing relationships with customers while acquiring new customers and developing new business opportunities.
  • Maintain a professional and positive image of the company in all interactions with customers, vendors and competitors that reflect the company's strong commitment to quality service.
Qualification
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, bachelors degree preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electric motors.
  • Sales, industry knowledge, and professional experience are highly desirable.
  • Strong professional verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Identify potential customers and assess their needs by providing expert knowledge on electric motors. Promote services to meet their requirements and maximize sales opportunities.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with customers using strong written and verbal skills to promote and sell company products and services. Ensure proactive communication regarding job progress, with a key focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Investigate and resolve any complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing customers to ensure continued business by
  • Keeping them informed throughout job progress and updating them on inventory, pricing, and service timelines.
  • Maintain detailed records of all customer accounts, including interactions, purchase orders, quotes, and job status.
  • Actively acquire new customers to grow the company's customer base and boost revenue.ย 
  • Work closely with vendors to stay current on product availability, pricing and delivery schedules. Maintain accurate documentation of vendor pricing and share updates with customers as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of in-house operations, electric motor repair procedures, and company services to provide clear, accurate, and confident communication with both customers and vendors.
