Job description

Butler Machinery is looking for a Logistics Manager to lead our transportation and logistics operations and ensure equipment and components move safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively across our territory. This role plays a critical part in supporting our internal teams, customers, and carrier partners while driving continuous improvement in logistics performance.
What You’ll Do
As the Logistics Manager, you’ll plan, lead, and optimize logistics operations across a large region. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing logistics strategies to improve efficiency and performance
  • Analyzing data and collaborating with internal teams to optimize transportation operations
  • Managing logistics operations using both internal fleet and third-party carriers
  • Serving as an escalation point to resolve complex logistics challenges
  • Managing carrier contracts and evaluating routes and vendor performance
  • Monitoring and improving KPIs to ensure service, cost, and performance goals are met
  • Establishing and maintaining freight rates and supporting sales teams with accurate transportation data
  • Leading team meetings, training initiatives, and performance reviews
  • Ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and company policies
  • Overseeing acquisition and maintenance of transportation and warehouse assets

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company insurability requirements
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or related systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or fleet management
  • Experience with fleet procurement, safety management, or transportation systems
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance
