Job description

The Salvation Army Mission Statement:
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
A. BASIC PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to assist in facilitating the overall mission of The Salvation Army through the programs offered at the Reno Corps under the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor. This position description is a broad outline of responsibilities.
B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Receive donated good and process them in the most time and space-effective manner.
2. Sort, clean and price donated goods for shipment to stores.
3. Discriminate between quality merchandise and inexpensive items, sending to collectibles if warranted.
4. Handle merchandise with care, discarding inappropriate items with suggestive messages, cult slogans, drug abuse, etc.
5. Read and fill orders from Revenue Centers.
6. Keep work area clean and orderly.
7. Follow supervisor's orders without direct supervision.
8. Keep records of processed goods and submit to supervisor.
9. Work effectively with beneficiaries on work therapy assignment. The Salvation Army Fraternizing Policy is strictly enforced.
10. Follow all polices, including The Salvation Army policy of "In Today, Out Tomorrow".
11. All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
1. Must be able to run simple mechanized equipment, including pricing machine.
2. Must be able to follow direct orders.
3. Must be able to work under time constraint.
4. Must be able to work effectively among co-workers and beneficiaries.
D. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis up to eight hours per day.
2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
3. Ability to reach overhead
4. Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds non-continuously
5. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
