Donation Processing Associate
Location: St. Joseph, MO
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Job Type: Part-Time
Schedule: 25 hours per week, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled

About the Role
At The Salvation Army Family Store, your work helps turn donated goods into funding for programs that support individuals and families in our community.
As a Donation Processing Associate, you'll play a key role in accepting, processing, sorting, and preparing donated items while delivering outstanding customer service to our donors. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a hands-on environment, interacting with people, and making a positive impact through meaningful work.
What You'll Do
Donation Receiving & Processing
  • Greet donors and provide exceptional customer service
  • Assist donors with unloading and accepting donations
  • Accurately process and track donated items
  • Inspect donations and identify acceptable materials
  • Safeguard all donated goods and assigned equipment
  • Educate donors on donation guidelines and available services

Production & Operations
  • Sort, categorize, and process donated merchandise according to Salvation Army standards
  • Power sort donations as received, where applicable
  • Support production goals and processing standards
  • Load and unload Salvation Army trucks in accordance with center policy
  • Assist with moving merchandise and materials throughout the facility

Safety & Organization
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe donation area
  • Follow company policies and safety procedures
  • Report complaints, injuries, equipment issues, or property damage promptly
  • Assist with maintaining an efficient donation flow and processing area

Training Provided
  • Paid training on donation procedures and production standards
  • Hands-on instruction for donation processing and merchandise handling
  • Ongoing coaching and support from store leadership
  • Opportunities to develop customer service, retail, and warehouse skills
