Job description

Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking a Process Safety Deployment Leader for a premier chemical manufacturing facility in Alvin, TX.

Reporting to the Sr. PSM Manager, this role is the primary architect for process safety program deployment at the site level. You will partner with ESSH and manufacturing teams to ensure that complex process safety scenarios are identified and that robust, effective controls are in place. This is a high-impact leadership seat designed for an engineer who excels at bridging the gap between global safety standards and frontline operational execution. You will drive a "risk-based" approach to safety, developing program owners and implementing metrics that allow site leadership to prioritize initiatives that directly reduce the facility's risk profile.
Job Responsibilities

  • Program Deployment: Lead the integration of process safety programs into operating units, fostering a deep technical understanding to achieve sustainable safety performance.
  • Risk Analysis & Facilitation: Facilitate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) studies to meet site and regulatory requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the site maintains 100% compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) rules.
  • Metrics & Prioritization: Implement measurement programs and maintain a Process Safety Scorecard to help site leaders prioritize safety initiatives based on real-time data.
  • Strategic Risk Reduction: Develop and execute strategies to systematically reduce the site's risk profile through a CCPS risk-based approach.
  • Competency Development: Mentor and develop site program owners, coordinating specialized process safety training across all levels of the organization.
  • Audit & Investigation: Participate in comprehensive process safety audits and lead incident investigation teams to identify root causes and mitigation strategies.
  • Global Collaboration: Serve as a core member of the company-wide process safety team, providing input on the development of new global standards and tools.

Requirements

Education & Technical Skills
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering is REQUIRED (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs (Process and Instrument Diagrams) is essential.
  • Strong facilitation, analytical, and detail-oriented problem-solving skills.
Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of PSM experience in a chemical, oil, or gas manufacturing plant is REQUIRED.
  • Proven experience in a risk-based process safety approach as identified by the CCPS.
  • Demonstrated leadership in risk identification and management functions.
  • Experience achieving results through cross-functional influence rather than direct authority.
Desired Knowledge (Bonus)
  • Formal training in PHA/LOPA facilitation.
  • Leadership experience in incident investigation (Root Cause Analysis).
  • History of successful PSM program development and site-wide deployment.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health, vision, and dental insurance plans
  • Life insurance coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions
  • Paid time off including vacation, sick leave, and holidays
  • Opportunities for career growth and advancement
